I'm pretty sure that almost all corporations donate money to candidates in both parties and generally ignore politicians' stances on issues having nothing to do with them. I don't think that's okay, just that's what I think happens, especially given the response you got from Pfizer. Corporations should not be allowed to give money to political campaigns. They aren't citizens and shouldn't be allowed to influence elections. If they want influence they can always plead their case to their employees.

This corporate influence with big money is why I am an advocate with the citizen led American Promise to advance a constitutional amendment to limit money in politics that has exploded since Citizens United. 21 states have called for such an amendment (latest is Alaska on Nov 3!) Polls show 75% of Americans across the political spectrum support an amendment and the 1st bipartisan resolution in the House was House Joint Res 2 in the 116th Congress which did get 1 hearing before shutdown in March. Join the effort to fix this. The

We need to get big money out of politics. If these large companies that whine about paying too much in taxes would pay these political dollars in taxes to the government, then the quality of life for many Americans could be improved, & we could repair our infrastructure, roads, bridges, etc. I would like to see control of the government in the hands of the voters instead of the corporations.

I am FURIOUS with corporations throwing money into politics to subvert democracy and make way for yet MORE PROFIT for themselves. WE MUST GET CORPORATE MONEY OUT OF OUR POLITICS if democracy has any hope of surviving this dark period in our history. Keep outing these companies, Judd, because we must cut off doing business with them.

It would be interesting to see an in-depth analysis of corporate and PAC contributions since Citizens United (which should be overturned, legislatively, but no elected official is willing to give up the money). The contributions cited in this article are disturbing (especially contributions to Gaetz and Jordon), but the article just analyzed contributions to successful candidates. I suspect most corporations contribute to both candidates in each race they deem important, to cover their bases no matter who wins. But it’s important to shed light on this practice now and whenever these incumbents are up for reelection. NO ONE who supports this effort to undermine the constitution should be re-elected. In fact, they should be recalled or impeached for violating their oath of office.

A great many of this country’s problems are never addressed because legislators on both sides take money from big business to influence laws that effect profit. It needs to change.
