Thanks for presenting a helpful history of the networks' double standard on when to interrupt programming to air presidential addresses whose urgency is not self-evident (OK when it's a Republican president) and when it is "too political" (that's when a Democratic president asks).

My initial response to any of the malignant narcissistic Queens real estate mob boss mumblings is to ignore, but this is such desperation on his part, I think it does well to just let him spew and people to hear and see how demented and delusional he really is.

I agree. I watched all of about 3 minutes at the start and then tuned it out. I don't need to hear his rantings.

I hear you. 20% of the populace is hopeless and stuck on him, but if the other 15% that are MAGA adjacent can just wise up enough to listen and see that he is lying to them we have a chance to flip the seats in 2026 and right this ship.

Honestly if anyone still has cable TV, this is your kick in the pants to cut the cord. I never ever have to see or hear Trump unless I specifically go out of my way to seek him out. Having not even seen his speech last night, I knew exactly what to expect and what he was going to say. He's a broken record. And the world's biggest liar. Truly a pathetic excuse for a president.

I agree.

I bought an inexpensive HD antenna and use it to watch live sports on the networks. My cable package included Fox News, meaning I paid about $3 per month in affiliate fees to the creepy Murdoch billionaires. Not any more.

Good to know that our major networks are an arm of the Trump administration propaganda machine. We're definitely not plunging headlong into fascism or anything. 🫠

Thank you PI for this summary of how the MSM is capitulating to Trump.

Thank you for having the intestinal fortitude to watch the speech...we didn't. We watched "Plan 9 from Outer Space" since it's more factual.

I tried to listen to it anticipating a laundry list of spurious reasons why Venezuela needed to be bombed into the Stone Age, but after about 3 minutes of the usual bullshit about Biden and 1 minute of Trump's "greatness" I turned it off. Trump has clearly lost not only the narrative, but what few remaining marbles he once had. He is truly mentally ill and must be removed from office before he does something from which we will never recover.

Wonder how many more of these nonsense rush jobs of a campaign diatribe trump is going to force the networks to carry? We'll see how many pissed off "Survivor" fans complain.

With every public speech (if one can call it that) his impotence comes shining through.

Isn’t it time we call them the minor networks? They don’t inform but tout minority opinions side by side with prescription drug advertisements. How are major networks still a phrase? My husband and I watch nothing on CBS, NBC and ABC but Colbert, Meyers and Kimmel. Soon we’ll no longer watch CBS. Don’t they hear their own death rattle? I do.

CBS is a MAGA-captured entity now. The other networks are afraid Trump will sue them if they don’t air his speeches. They had no such fear about refusing to air speeches from Biden or Obama, since those two presidents respected the rule of law and didn’t threaten the press.

Seeing the president in real time without editing actually helps to demonstrate how sadly ill equipped he is to have access to the nuclear codes and “run” the country. This is better than the habitual sane washing conducted in mainstream media.

I don’t have cable TV either for the same reasons as HM Haskins.

Given that average Americans are EXPERIENCING exactly the opposite of what Trump says are his accomplishments, do people REALLY continue to BELIEVE what he says??

There are some people who say, "Wait a minute, he's the president, let's listen to what he has to say." Good. Listen to the garbage, the lies and the grandiosity if you still need a reason to be frightened for your country. Can you imagine ANYONE sitting through a Donald Twump speech? His magats are all on line, his Fox News fans are all in hospice, his J6ers are all drunk. I imagine there are some sober middle-age, TV watching GOPers who made it through and their vote counts, bless 'em. But for the rest of America it's time to turn out the light then turn out the light.

Once the feculent orange gas bag leaves politics, whether through retirement, impeachment or just shuffling off his mortal coil, the obvious perfidy of the major media must be punished. We should start with anti-trust action and ownership reforms, before moving on to massive tax increases for the bloated wealth class.
