It's one thing for media networks to face the erosion of their integrity from outside forces. It's quite another, though, for them to take a hatchet to their own credibility as a news source. Legitimately sad to witness.

What's enlightening is that weakening a news outlet like the Post, CBS News or the LA Times this way in fact weakens those organizations' bottom lines. It's just proof that Bezos, Ellison, and Soon-Shiong don't care about running journalism organizations or even running businesses. What they care about is blasting pro-Trump propaganda to please Dear Leader.

Slight correction: What they care about is making as much money as possible.

Thank you for this. We the People need to vote with our feet. It is hard to know how to do that these days ... turn off CBS and trash subscriptions to the WaPo (check, check). Subscribe to independent media producers like this one.... what else? It would be great to have a list of offenders to boycott.

Hi Ginny, I just found https://stopmediabiasnow.com/ when I looked up "what companies advertise on CBS." I'm going to start emailing and calling.

I found a list that advertised on Rush Limbaugh those many years ago. I quit buying those products and I have never gone back to them. They sold their soul to Rush and I will not make them richer for it.

There should also be a campaign for progressively-minded people to flood his new office with complaints about any and all disinformation or incomplete reporting around the administration’s many scandals and unconstitutional actions.

I agree strongly, we're in an intellectual war, television is beholden to so many things it's an abomination. I was offered a place on TV and I said no.

"Identity politics" -- that's when "women" and "African-Americans" and "Latinos" and "LGBTQi" are considered PEOPLE. (Read sarcasm.) Increasingly and clearly absent from this hateful administration.

Except when the admin trots out a token gay, or a token black or brown person who will gladly collaborate with the enemy as long it gets hits on their social media. ("There's my Black person.")

The "news" is already so fractured that the capitulation of these stalwarts is just a mere toppling of what was once steel and stone and has become institutions made of Legos. Too bad. So sad. I imagine they will all want imitations of Karoline Leavitt: pushy, bitchy, arrogant, unlikeable and a guard dog to important men. As a former high school teacher in NYC, I can tell you right now the reckoning is coming and the poor, who should fight the rich, are being brainwashed through a lack of truth by those who pose as allies but would do them harm. Social media is a cesspool they swim in everyday - long past the notion that something stinks.

I find it incredibly funny, ironic, expected in these times that Weinstein will report directly to the president of Paramount, the mere Shell of a man running the mere shell of a news organization. Ba-da-dum. But seriously folks, we now have three non-functional branches of federal government, a personal presidential police force and militarization of American policing, the denigration of the truth of our history and the truths of our arts, and the failure of the fourth wall of mainstream media. I believe we are now experiencing the middle of the end of our democratic republic. The Queens borough real estate gangster mob boss posing as president continues to dump a pile of crap at each of our doorsteps every day. The only way out is through and the only way through is together. Peace.

Your description of the current condition of the US is succinct and correct. I'm going to copy it and send it to my friends. I'll credit you: "an insightful poster". "Middle of the end" or the beginning of the end or maybe nearing the end; whatever stage of unraveling the country is in, we're in a non-shooting civil war.

Thanks TC. Some states are already moving toward soft succession- a non-shooting civil war as you say. May truth, the rule of law and compassion for our fellow human beings be our guiding principles as we work our way through this very difficult time. Peace.

Nooooo! There is a show that I recorded each week and watched when I needed a ray of sunshine especially during these last 10 years of some awful news cycles. And it NEVER disappointed.

I fear it will not be the same & for that I am sad & angry, once again, at what person DJT is doing to our country!

You can draw a straight line from the Citizens United decision (2010) to the corruption and stifling of dissent in the media (and elsewhere) and it all stinks to high heaven. Conceiving of corporations as people has allowed the billionaires who control them to equate their desire for money and power with being more qualified than the rest of us to rule the world. The Musk’s, Bezos, and Paramount’s of the world see nothing but profit in supporting Donald Trump and his destruction of democracy. Voter suppression is just part of the project. This is the same dynamic that has led to uprisings against governments throughout history, including our own Revolution. Now we need to figure out a way to do it from within, unfortunately.
