Someone I know well said that Kushner was the single dumbest person he had ever met. That was proven by his destruction of the NY Observer and his ill fated 666 building. But he seems to have lots of friends on the Arabian Peninsula who see the way to Trump's heart is thru Kushner's wallet. But they are not as dumb as Jared, once Trump is off the scene, he will be of no use to them. And he's not bright enough to sustain the facade without them.

And Kushner was bailed out of the 666 building fiasco years ago, by some Canadian ( if I recall correctly) investment firm with ties to the Saudi’s and/ or Kuwait.

Qatar if memory serves. But it's all the same corrupt oil sheiks buying influence over Trump via his moronic son-in-law.

You call him a moron. He is the young guy who took over the family business while his dad was in prison & expanded its portfolio. He is now the guy who knows how to leverage his connections & pocket Billion$. I doubt he doesn’t know why those doors open for him.

He & his background / family behavior is much like his father-in-law. Both came from wealthy families. Both fathers had run ins with the law & were wealthy slum lords.

Donnie is not the greatest businessman but he makes sure the money he loses belongs to someone else. Kushner is grabbing all he can while he can. He will have plenty of $$ if he is cut off by his wealthy benefactors when Donnie leaves. But after all, wealth attracts wealth.

By the way, lots of wildly successful people had missteps & failures along the way. It’s not really about intellect. Plenty of smart people are not wealthy. Like his father-in-law, I would be more concerned about his conniving and lack of ethics than his smarts. It could be that it makes us feel good to think people we don’t like are dumb.

You saw my initial comment. Jared is an idiot, that does not mean he is not an opportunist nor does it mean he can lie, cheat, steal and grift with the best of them. And his 666 Madison Ave investment nearly killed the company and would have had the qataris not bailed him out. Do not discount the possibility that Ivanka, who is also a world class grifter but not an idiot, is the brains of the outfit.

As I said, lots of wildly successful people had missteps or failures. My point is that Jared’s brainpower makes no difference. He could be a genius and not have the ethics to do what is best for the country. Nor am I going to waste any energy considering who runs the show in Javanka-land. Or trying to measure Jarod’s brainpower. It all has nothing to do with anything.

You are right. With him it's all about proximity to power. It will be interesting to see what happens when Trump is gone. I find it interesting that Javanka is still shunned by NYC society. That's unlikely to change.

I've noticed that Trump seems to surround himself with idiots. Kushner is just an example. I also notice a singular lack of any creative thinking. No artists or architects. Not even any useful skills like doctors or teachers, let alone any trades like plumbing or carpentry. It's a prime example of those you might recognize as belonging to Ayn Rand's despised class of people who survive only by preying on ("stealing") the hard work of others.

I know! She did it too!! What! Same thing! No, but maybe she did something wrong, so of course in a kindergarten mentality, "She did it first" is all they can come up with, false equivalency or not!

Of course, just like Kindergarten. "He did it too!" False equivalencies between Kushner and H. Biden aside!

A Poem for the Moment - From Jared’s Perspective

I’ve not many skills, but I married his daughter.

666 wasn’t Trix, but I still want a Tower, so I

Conned all the Saudis but still failed in Belgrade.

Just like dear dad-in-law, my fortunes all self-made.

Yay! We were discussing this last night in my political book club although I did not know the details, just the part about it being a cultural site and being blocked. Yay for the youth of Serbia. I think they should win some sort of Nobel Prize. Perhaps one in economics. They are helping to destroy a far right business. Now we just need to protect the Albanian Island. Fat Chance on that.

I will be happy to see all of these people in an international prison where they all belong since they are committing crimes that affect people of many countries, including the US.

It's my understanding that Jared Kushner is a private citizen and financial investor. He's not actually an employee of the State Dept. or the Trump administration. As a private citizen, he's breaking the law by working as if he were a government employee. So, I'd like to know--how come no one has called this out? All he's doing is trying to make deals financially favorable to him and his father-in-law as demonstrated by the Ukraine plan he and Witkoff presented as the Trump plan (but was really the Russian plan with financial business incentives for the US thrown in).

Good question! So many things should be called out and challenged! Are our elected leaders crazy too, stupid, cowed, or something else? How about international law firms. They surely aren't all beholden to DJT!

Poor Jared, you know that whatever private schools he went to, he had to have big bodyguards accompany him everyday or get bullied by the other rich kids whose fathers were perhaps not in prison that year. He's such a slip of a delicate man I wonder that he doesn't go Bezos/Zuckerberg and build his slim body into an overripe wrestler's frame. Maybe they can't find starter weights that he can pick up.

Venezuela has 304 billion barrels of oil reserves, Canada has 170 BB and America has 74 BB. When Trump offered to do what the oil men wanted for 1 Billion dollars, they wanted the reserves in Canada and Venezuela. That is why he suddenly wanted to annex Canada and why he is getting ready to invade and conquer Venezuela. If American oil companies had those reserves they would have about 1/3 of the worlds reserves and almost all of the oil in the western hemisphere.

Thanks again for your absolute clarity, Judd. You write without a whiff of I-told-you-so, even though in the case of Kushner his incompetence and greed has long been obvious.

You also argue for sympathy for nations that are under the thumbs of these idiot oligarchs, trapped between a rock and a hard place. For high-ranking officials to endanger their own careers out of desperation (or perhaps the irresistible lure of lucre) is indeed the stuff of novels.
