They will try every dirty trick they can think of to prevent that outcome, and they may make a difference on the margins, but they can only cheat their way to a win when it's close, and as we have seen repeatedly over the past year, it is unlikely to be close. But once defeated then the real "fun" will begin. They will scream about massive voter fraud. They will scream about illegal aliens voting. They will scream about Democrats cheating. They will file hundreds of lawsuits that they will lose. And then come January, they will try to refuse to seat the victorious Democrats. But they will lose. Why, because we, the people, will not stand for it. In the Senate the US Vice president presides over swearing in a Senators for a new session. If he does not / will not the Senate President Pro Tem can do it. It’s the first order of business. To deny a member a seat in the House or Senate requires a majority vote. SCOTUS has previously ruled that it can only be done if the person does not meet the Constitutional requirements (age, etc.). To expel a seated member requires 2/3 vote.
That’s why when Grijalva won a special election during the session (while the House was out to recess for an extended period) Johnson ‘delayed’ swearing her in. He couldn’t deny her the seat but there is no set deadline he had to meet.
