This is the perfect illustration of the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats respect the rules and refuse to change them for fear of what Republicans might do in the future, hence no reform of the filibuster under Democrats to make it harder for Republicans to block everything. But Republicans, now in power, simply ignore the rules and push their agenda. through, impact be damned. This disgraceful bill may, in the best case, bring on another Great Depression, in the worst it may result in a violent uprising by the peasants who will be hurt badly. But the Republicans don't care...because they fear an angry, vengeful, stupid old man deep into dementia more than they fear the voters.

And the Dems lost. Also, there are no gold stars for trying to enable bipartisanship. Since Gingrich, this goal only exists for one party and the other is no longer punished for ignoring. Lobbyists are the real citizens at the behest of the billionaire class.

And NO ONE cares about bipartisanship except the media.

Corporations love bipartisanship because it almost always benefits them. Bill Clinton supported bipartisan financial "reforms" that undid the banking regulations passed in 1937. Within 8 years, the whole thing collapsed and millions of working people lost their homes.

The Republicans are currently toadying to Trump, but he is just the current face of the oligarchy which is the true power behind him. The tech bros the “old money” folks and the fossil fuel industry have used Citizens United to buy Congress and get us where we are today.

Sad. Terrifying. What can an every- day citizen actually do to effect change? As Mr. Rogers said, “Look for the helpers.” It’s our neighbors, our friends, our family and expanded networks of like-minded people who are “mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!”

But it doesn’t have to be a violent uprising. It can be a strong, steady, determined and peaceful opposition that ultimately flips the table. Love wins.

It mustn't be violent, because if it is, martial law will cancel elections, which at this point is our only legal recourse in 2026 to reverse much of the damage. In the meantime, special elections are being lost by republicans in the majority of them. This must continue, and all Americans need to keep peacefully protesting and marching in extremely large numbers.

And never let them forget who is voting with trump against the better interest of all Americans.

Except their “voters” all watch FOX “Not Really News” and think they are going to benefit by the tax cuts.

True, but even Tom Tillis, not the brightest bulb in the candelabra, knows that they won't be able to bullshit and lie their way past the punishing cuts they are going to unleash on those voters.

So...CONGRESS where are we with the bill?

It can't pass, so someone, or a group of people need to make it real. So they are supposed to filibuster it?

We have seen this before, with McConnell. He just changes anything he wants to to make bills pass.

One year he held over 400 bills, and did not bring them up for a vote.

Can dems just leave and NOT VOTE?

I get how dems always want to follow the rules but MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE.

Medicare / Medicaid should NOT BE IN THIS BILL AT ALL. Neither should the tax breaks for Billionaires.

It is UNACCEPTABLE THAT CUTS FOR MEDICARE, MEDICAID ARE IN THE BILL.

So WHY are you VOTING ON IT??

DON'T VOTE UNTIL CUTS TO MEDICAID ARE REMOVED.

NONSENSICAL THAT BILLIONS💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 ARE SUPPOSED TO GO TO DOD.

JUST REFUSE TO CONSIDER IT.

GO HOME UNTIL THEY HAVE IT THE WAY WE WANT IT.

The "rules" were not made for LETTING PEOPLE DIE OR NOT FEEDING PEOPLE.

There is NOTHING TO DISCUSS.

WALK AWAY.

WHAT is up with being there at all hours? Republicans like to do that, thinking it will wear you down.😡

YOU CAN'T ( WON'T) LET AMERICANS DIE.

BTW it doesn't matter what DT wants, or WHEN HE WANTS IT.

It isn't for him to DEMAND anything.

YOU ARE NOT MURDERS.

ALL OF THIS IS NOT WRITTEN IN STONE. THE CONSTITUTION DOESN'T SAY MAKE LEGISLATION THAT KILLS PEOPLE, or STARVES CHILDREN.

THERE ARE OVER 300 MILLION AMERICANS THAT FORBID Congress to MURDER PEOPLE.

😠😡😠😡😠😡😠🗽🇺🇲🇺🇦

The punishing cuts will be after the midterms to delay the reckoning so they can (they hope) stay in power.

Maybe. But rural hospitals are going to close before the cuts fully hit. The uncertainty is going to tank more than a few small businesses. The Republicans, especially Trump, think they are invincible and it will be their arrogance that will be their undoing.

Rules are for fools. They only apply when Dems are in the majority. Mitch McConnell ignore Senate rules and installed a couple of “Supremes” that have since “crowned" Trump as a “king” and shredded the Constitution.

Judd, fantastic breakdown of this legislative process. Clearly broken down for all to see the truth. Once again where is the national news media reporting?

Oh, that’s right they’re an entertainment media. Bought and sold and bought again by billionaires to feed us BS. There’s no “ Good night and Good luck “ nor “ Good luck to all. “ That’s how the light gets in to see our way out of the darkness.

Theirs is simply : ‘ smile and be happy living in a make believe world of BS. ‘

The filibuster is a son of racism, and was used by Southern states to disenfranchise African Americans.

It should have gone away long ago.

Can someone explain to me why 70 million Americans, let's say, 99.9% of which are living frugally and worried about their bills, if not their future and their kid's futures, could vote for this man, or defend this Congress? Explain it me like I am a slow learner, perhaps even an illiterate knuckle-dragger, because I need to understand, once again, how people vote against themselves, against their future and their grandkid's future? What is the explanation? Talk real slow and use simple words.

A lack in the most fundamental understanding of what government is and how it benefits them. I recently had a conversation with a successful small business owner who confessed to me that she didn't know what nonpartisan means. She is a prime target for the rampant disinformation flooding the zone! And millions are just like her.

Before I broke the chains of addiction to social media, I had a facebook page. Way back when I went on to the platform because I was required to, I was so confused by these, I don't know, memes? They would look to be anti-something but they were oddly phrased so I did not know what I was supposed to think. Turns out, they were Russian made and deliberately confusing in order to get Americans unable to tell up from down. That, to me, is the beginning of the dis- and mis-information of the modern electorate. YES, Fox "news" but also Russian infiltration (like it was hard to do), that slowly turned American's brains from Fox mush to social media mushier.
