You know everything you need to know about Republicans and elections by watching how hard they work to disenfranchise voters. As Paul Weyrich said years ago they don't want everyone to vote, because when everyone votes, they lose. If only the Republican Party could learn from its losses and change its policy proposals from the simple tax cuts for the rich, deregulation for business, ending immigration and marginalizing marginalized groups into something that the American people could actually support.

I am about to vote a straight democratic ticket for the first time, without considering the qualifications of ANY republican candidates. I cannot support any R's. The R's are either complacent or complicit (why not both?) and neither represents me!

My husband, a life-long Republican, told me that anyone who calls themselves Republican these days is a damaged soul & needs help. For the first time in his life, he voted straight-ticket Democratic and has no regrets.

I personally know three people who have been lifelong registered Republicans and are voting straight D tickets this election. I don’t see how, if little old me knows three of them, there aren’t millions of others.

For all that is dear, I hope so.

First and foremost. How many of you p*ss away $60 in a month or year? If you aren't subscribing to PI but read it because you don't have a pay wall, we are endanger of losing Judd and PI.

He is under attack on Twitter where he gets people like us to subscribe or you freebies jump in. I found him 4 years ago and have subscribed ever since. My oh my. What Elon Musk is about to find out is pay walls after free seldom work. I won't pay the rich jerk's 1 billion a year tab. I can catch up on my reading on here and other substack newsletters.

That being said. I am very angry at MSM for unfair reporting of pre election. Trump is lede more nights than not. They contribute to voter suppression as well. 1% heart of ownership. WTH. The GOP is about to take this country off the Democratic Republic list and dammit my children and their children may never grow old, have families in anything resembling land of the free and home of the brave. (As if it truly was, but you catch my drift.)

Subscribe. You can't afford not to as this is the last wagon circle and the Cavalry ain't coming.

PS

Vote today if you haven't.

Everyone who reads this newsletter, please consider taking out a paid subscription. I'm a paid subscriber, I'm not American, I'm African and I earn a small fraction of what most Americans on minimum wage earn. Without paid supporters Twitter is likely to supress the excellent work that Judd and his contributors produce. Please don't let that happen.

I think it is unkind to attack those readers who don’t subscribe. We don’t know the circumstances of their lives or what $60 means for them. I pay the annual subscription now but didn’t always, paying monthly here and there for a while and just checking out from politics altogether when there was not enough time, energy, or the stomach for it. I encourage all who can to subscribe but thank Judd for making his reporting available to all who want to read it.

I didn't read anything here as an attack, more like vigorous encouragement.

I guess it sounded like shaming to me. There was a time when my hub’s business went down the drain(pandemic) and I was canceling subscriptions to everything. The business never fully recovered, but I subscribed when I was able. Struck a nerve. Thanks for your insight.

I get it. I looked for every way I could possibly shave payments when I lost my job during Covid. We all have different circumstances, but probably there are a lot of people that *could* subscribe and just haven't gotten around to it. I subscribe to some newsletters and get others for free. PI very quickly demonstrated that they were worth my money, and I encourage others to subscribe if possible. This is quite possibly the most worthy publication on Substack.

Kind doesn't pay the bills. I guarantee you most people scrape together money from what they throw away to pay a bill or they could subscribe.

PI has 3 staff. He doesn't have ad revenue that we see. Perhaps he has big time donors. Which would be wonderful.

But if not, they deserve to make a living from their skilled reporting. Subscribe.

Yes I do subscribe, and one of the things I enjoy is what I can learn from the comments. I love it when someone shares a link. Other than trolls—we’re all familiar w Frank—I appreciate the respect among the comments. Neither respect nor kindness pay bills, but it is something I find missing in our current political and social environment, the reason I d/c’d social media a few years ago. I hope we can continue to to have a kind and respectful dialogue here, and, like you, I encourage everyone who reads this newsletter to subscribe. It’s worth it if you can.

Yes Leah. You are correct. I do the same. I have to laugh at Frank the Fraud though. Whatever he accuses me (or anyone else of for that matter), is what he himself is actually guilty of. That F-ing FL is a hoot! And his initials add up to "FLORIDA" which is most appropriate for such a joke of a man, woman or deadbeat as he, eh?

Hi Judd, Thank you for being courageous enough to stay on Twitter which I abandoned when Musk first made his intentions known. I have learned that the path of confusion and hypocrisy is not the truth and that only Democrats have a sense of irony/humor because the other side is busy burning the house down. 🙏 PS I am gifting your column to others.

Why wouldn't the Republicans keep doing this? It's been working enough for them to disenfranchise many voters. Their position seems to be that they are virtuous people whose side NEVER cheats---only those evil, leftist Democrats do things like that.

And they have an entire media network which screams constantly that they are right.

Tucker Carlson claims that the "Democrats are going to steal the election and start a civil war." Which means (ignoring other implications) that you have to look to see how the Republicans are trying to steal the election. These attempts at disenfranchising voters are one key part of the Republicans strategy - see TN for another angle.

Always nice to see a judge throw out a pathetic republican "lawsuit" if you can even call it that. I simply can't understand voting for any Republican at the moment. Until trump is dead, their party cannot be trusted with anything.

Perfect ending to this reporting of Republican internecine maneuvers, “is not only unprecedented, it is intolerable.”

Meanwhile, thinking of the ancient shared experience of the lunar eclipse--may light finally shine through all that obscures it! (I'm not watching or listening to any news today.)

In favor of seemingly impossible transformations turning in the direction of being sources of good--eg, Elon Musk learning how using his power for good could feel deeply satisfying; how news from PI can spread to change minds that are stuck; how a majority can focus on desired outcomes (rather than fears).

In Georgia, the state where Stacey Abrams continues to be an election denier (after flipping and flopping to say she supports voter ID) and Biden Democrats ginned up a national political news narrative claiming State Republicans were suppressing votes there, this election has seen record numbers of ballots.

Including date of signature is a standard form completion/authorization step. If you don’t date the form big government Democrat bureaucrats will gleefully reject it. Requiring that same standard for ballots is easy to accept.
