When an American has lost a job or has fallen on hard times, they are told to "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", which makes me wonder what the underlying goal here is. Whatever it is, it won't be good for America or Americans.

I'd love to see an investigation into how many people who bought those visas at Sonderling's urging ended up getting government assistance with Medicaid, SNAP etc, after coming here with half a mil or more. And I'm sure Grassley is fine with selling visas for 5 mil.
