Calling your group in opposition to right-wing propaganda WOKE and leveraging legislation authored by Republicans to facilitate their goals? Chef's kiss.

Yes, but it is not enough. The state superintendent should be taken on and gotten rid of.

I suspect that is already next on WOKE's agenda. They sound like brawlers.

Need to highlight too that Walters purchased Trump bibles to put in every classroom. Don’t forget the corruption of this guy with Trump Crime family.

Ah yes. While we are remembering —

• PragerU is not an education entity or accredited. It is not a neutral entity. It jumped into the educational field when it looked promising. Florida was the first to hop onboard and approve its materials for use by teachers. Its mission is spreading rightwing propaganda to gain converts. Or in the words of its founder:

• The Mission Of PragerU, Aug 28, 2019

“Our goal is to provoke thought and change minds by presenting an alternative to the leftist worldview that saturates most of our nation's media, entertainment, and academia.”

“change minds”

Hillsdale is right below them.

Ann Sharon's avatar

Hillsdale these days is a favorite model for the right wing. DeSantis said he wanted New College to be come a FL Hillsdale. It has had other issues.

However, it is a private religious college that has been accredited for over 100 yrs & does not receive or request tax $$. It has a decent ranking among liberal arts colleges & only top students are admitted.

PragerU is the opposite of all those things.

As a former higher education / teacher educator in Oklahoma, it saddens me to read that a very solid state curriculum for social studies/ history has been replaced with christian nationalist propaganda bs. Highly questionable processes were attempted to force changes in the the previously standing curriculum without the normal vetting and discussion from all constituencies that is part of the well established processes and praxis required re: adoption of changes to a standing state guidelines! Hopefully, the parents and voters of OK will persevere in the courts to prevent such ridiculous attempts by MAGA racist extremist!

Sounds like Walters needs to lose his job for his biased, deceitful behavior rushing the vote without allowing the opportunity to read the changes. Gee, I wonder who else with biased behavior does the same thing in Congress? Could that be speaker Johnson pushing through the deceitful additions to their budget bill in the middle of the night?

When are these people going to do their jobs without cheating?

Did you ever read or listen to Michael Moore's intensive report on how every election that R's won involved cheating? The only lying by the Democrats involved the Vietnam War--and Johnson threw in the bag on his decision to run.

No I didn't Valerie. But now tha I know of it I will look for it. I did however, check out Greg Palast's movie "Vigilantes Incorporated" that debunked the book of propoganda called 2,000 Mules.

This is exactly how we should all be countering the hypocrisy. We should be using their tactics against their insanity and mockery whenever and wherever we can. This is a shining example of how to do it.

So glad parents are taking action. Somehow it seems that there should be a bigger action to protect the rest of the children in the state from this fascist curricular move. All of the people bucking to get Trump's attention to further their careers will leave no stone unturned to sink as low as they can go. I worry about the children whose parents are not as savvy as WOKE parents.

I worry about the children who have parents that agree with MAGA christofascists. I have seen the damage those parents have perpetrated. Their students may be able to quote many Bible verses but they cannot accomplish simple math equations nor understand American History as taught in State Universities.

I agree Mary. And, I am assuming that OK has enough of those families that the State Superintendent of Education feels comfortable with Ryan Walters sickening behavior. This is why he needs to be removed.

States run their own educational system. I’m not sure how you envision him being removed if most of the state is comfortable with his behavior.

The answer is 1)Don't move to OK. 2) Get the hell outta OK as soon as you can.

True, but if you value your children's education when the rest of the state does not, and is 'comfortable with his behavior'...then don't live in the state.

All these stories about Walters and the damage he’s causing in OK and every time I’ve wondered, what do the families think? Why do I never see a different perspective. There must be parents in OK who don’t want their kids learning that Jan 6 was ok! Well, of course it’s Popular Information that gets the important story. I’m really happy to seeing these families standing up to him and this insanity. I hope they’re successful
