Follow the money. How much of a bribe did Singer pay Trump for this? ANd out new mission is clear - boycott Valero and Citgo gas stations. There is always an alternative nearby so this is an easy one.

The best way to boycott not just Valero and Citgo but the entire oil industry is to drive an electric car and believe me if I could afford one I’d be driving one right now!

Too bad we can't buy that Chinese EV that's cheaper, better technology and higher quality than Tesla. If we could I'd have one too.

Amen to that! I am old enough to remember when inexpensive, economical foreign cars began to be imported in a trickle during the 50’s and then in greater numbers during the 60’s and 70’s. Detroit kept on pushing out oversized gas hogs until Toyota, et al began to eat their lunch. I expect they will now do everything they can to prevent China from doing the same thing with low cost EVs.

We bought a 2025 Nissan Leaf 100% electric last March for $25k, and used it until a teenager smashed it up in Nov. Now we have a Toyota 2026 Prius plug-in hybrid, for $38k, that we haven't (yet) put a drop of gasoline into. There are excellent alternatives to Tesla EV's from Japan.

Also: Valero is a completely separate company from Singer's Citgo. Don't boycott the former, which sells gas a bit cheaper than most other stations.

I've seen Honda electric cars as well as other brands, so it needn't be Chinese. Of course, with Congress taking away the subsidies and Trump's tariff wars, most of the cars are out of reach.

There are deals out there. I've seen new Polestars lease for as little as $3K down and $300 a month. If you live in California and drive over 1000 miles a month it's less than your gasoline bill. Do some shopping. You might find something that suits your need and budget. You may have to prioritize deal over style though.

"Heather Cox Richardson from Letters from an American" stated today:

"Lisa Desjardins and Nick Schifrin of PBS NewsHour reported this afternoon that Trump administration officials have told lawmakers that they plan to put the money raised from their seizure of Venezuelan oil into bank accounts outside the U.S. Treasury. Desjardins clarified that “[s]ources said they understood these as similar [to] or decidedly ‘off-shore’ accounts.”

Yesterday, Trump announced that, as president of the United States, he would control the money from the sale of Venezuelan oil."

the anger that continues to rise in me is not good for my soul.

Thank you for your reporting. You keep me sane. It is difficult to be hopeful. We, the 99%, apparently exist for the pleasure of the oligarchs. Feudalism is alive and well. We are being fed bread (highly processed food) and circuses (AI). One day I would like to wake up and not cry for my country and my fellow Americans now being indiscriminately shot and killed by masked federal agents and then gaslit by administration officials dressed up in cosplay like Indiana Jones. Our future is Orwellian. Up is down, left is right and right is wrong.

I wonder why this wasn’t “front page”news in the Washington Post? Or, a headline on CBS Evening “News?” Oh, yeah, ICE murdered a 37 year old mother in Minneapolis yesterday.

You really need to add "American-born" to the description of Ms. Good, shot and killed by ICE pigs yesterday. That way, magats cannot say she was a criminal illegal alien. Even my sister, who is liberal but not political, told me this week, they are going after the worse of the worst. Still. People don't want to know and they don't have correct information. It's almost like you have to search for the truth now.

The failure of the “free press” to inform the population of how heinous this administration is has resulted in the demolition of our democratic republic because the “free press” is now owned by billionaires.

Because they're all owned by billionaires or controlled by Trump cronies - in the case of CBS and ombudsman (aka 'bias monitor'). https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/07/how-the-trump-fcc-justified-requiring-a-bias-monitor-at-cbs/

The felon Trump is simply stealing the oil. He's turned the US into an imperialist kleptocracy. Just like Putin's Russia. All over the world our former allies are recalibrating their foreign policy towards the US. The US is now a threat to them and their interests. It will take time for their Foreign Offices and Ministries to adjust, but they will. The global world order dominated by the US is no more. And what did the felon get in exchange? Money for himself and his cronies.

We Americans, through decades of debate and planning, and after spending hundreds of billions of dollars on research and development finally realized to keep ourselves and our planet healthy, and to meet the challenges of living in a global economy, had finally (finally) started to make some efforts toward reliance on cleaner safer energy production and renewed our commitment to move AWAY from fossil fuels. We the People decided that. A MAJORITY of us agreed it was the direction we wanted to go.

And now here we are 1 year into the Trump administration, and the billionaire tech junkies, like Thiel and Musk, Barron and Young Witkoff are all screaming for more oil to support their stupid AI and crypto wet dreams. It is astonishing to me that so many Americans would [what Adam said](turn their back on their commitment to reduce our reliance on crude oil so easily).

I'm going to generously assume that when you say "no other outlets" as if PI was the only journalist responsible for breaking this story, you were of course excluding other SubStack writers and speaking about MAM. Zev Shalev shared this story on Jan 2 by restacking an in-depth article by Wendy Siegelman dated Jan 1, both of whom appear to have had the scoop many days before PI did.

It's certainly irritating when major publications pick up stories without giving credit to the SubStack investigative reporters who actually broke them, as they often do. It appears, however, that you might not have realized that you inadvertantly did the same thing. While PI might have put the facts together based on its own independent research, you were not the first to discover the story as this post suggests. FYI.
