Mediocre straight white Christian men are having their moment but it won't last. Diversity is a reality and no amount of reduced support from cowardly corporations (who will pay a price on their bottom line), deleted websites or bullshit pronouncements from morons like WV's governor will change it.

Boycott Verizon is a no brainer. Boycott Amazon is harder because it is doing so many things, yet it is a goal too.

Little by little they erode the foundation of a compassionate democracy. We must underpin the footings of their financial structure with merciless boycotts and protest. Call them out loudly.

Call me a crazed left-wing revolutionary, but I think the end of slavery in America is something worth celebrating for all of us.

The end of slavery is a historical fact. One that thousands of white and black people (and lots of other skin shades) died for.

Cancelling support for Juneteenth is the clearest signal yet that their real objective is revisionist history, not just DEI.

I play pickleball with a white guy who, while kind and thoughtful in many ways, thinks all federal workers are lazy and that Juneteenth is a ridiculous holiday. I wish I'd been quicker thinking and said to him, yeah, I mean, isn't it enough for Black Americans to have MLK day? Then celebrating the end of slavery, too? And rolled my eyes.

I’d say the number of federal holidays is a separate issue - e.g., we could offer to trade away Columbus Day in exchange for Juneteenth - but I would also question the idea of just viewing Juneteenth and MLK Day as “black holidays” as opposed to days to celebrate both America and the human race advancing forward.

The person I was referring to seemed to define those days as Black holidays, given what I know about his politics. I agree with you, but my remark was directed at undermining his implicit bias. It had nothing to do with the number of holidays

Every time one of these pieces is published it’s a reminder of how many corporations only implemented DEI and support for celebrations like Juneteenth to curry favor in the first place. They were cowards then and cowards they remain.

What I find interesting is how brazen the FCC is about predicating Verizon’s M&A on abandoning DEI programs. Unamerican and, one would think, illegal in a normal environment. Contra Morrissey, the only mind virus at play is in the AWDS (Anti-Woke Derangement Syndrome) sufferers.

Yup. It's all smoke and mirrors, optics employed to separate folks from teir money.

Please stop using Amazon. I have. It's not that hard. Telecom is more difficult. I don't believe there are any good actors there. At least I switched away from AT&T. Though still not great, at least T-Mobile is slightly less fascist.

But wait…More grift…. Trump Mobile is an American mobile virtual network operator (MVNO)[1] owned by T1 Mobile that uses a licensed brand from The Trump Organization.[2][3][4] It was founded on June 16, 2025.[5][6].

It was announced on June 16, 2025, the 10th anniversary of the announcement of the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign, at Trump Tower in New York City by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, Donald Trump's sons.[7][8] They also announced that the smartphones will be exclusively manufactured within the United States, with the goal to encourage other multi-industry companies to manufacture their product.

Sad, sad, sad. But truly wasn't it all performative in corporate America? Were the past few years a boon for diversity in the c-suite? Did we see black, brown and female faces flood the corporate offices of major corporations in America? I mean words on a page, y'all. Watch what they do not what they say. On the other hand, the DEI initiates have been so heavy handed that pushback has come at a (silent) relief to some who had to endure being told they were, without evidence and with a lifetime of alliance, a racist because they were born white. Academia was the worst offender - again and in a different way than say, Amazon or Verizon, much of it was a lot of hot air. Watch what they do, not what they say. Even the Juneteenth committees won't reveal who is pulling out in case they come crawling back next year and their money is just as green as it always was.

After being a Verizon customer for 25 years, I switched to Spectrum last month after reading that Verizon supported the "big, beautiful bill" and that they ended DEI support. I told them why, too. After reading your post today about them ending support for Juneteenth, I'm especially happy with my decision.
