I see no good end for crypto in its current iteration. Time to get money out of politics (End Citizens United) for all parties. Thank you for this jarring report.

So some Democrats hang out with and take money from people like Andreesen.

I did not see that coming.

That's very disturbing.

1. I want to throw up. I know it doesn’t sound like a compliment but it is because we need this type of reporting.

2. Crypto is the XXI scam. It is not just a bubble to burst but a dark reality of why we are where we are.

3. I WILL NOT give any penny to any democrat or DNC who continues to enrich themselves via private investments or campaign money via this obscure path. (Of course, i am no one with money or power to make a difference but i mean it).

Thank you for the reporting. It is very needed.

I agree with your sentiments but think your unwillingness to give to those who require outside funding is near-sighted (unless you have a LOT more money to donate than I). I would prefer not to see the dark money involvement, but it's an unfortunate reality when you are trying to uphold decency against unfathomable corruption on the other side of the aisle.

Like it or not, we’re all living under the dark cloud of Citizens United. And ironically, it’s going to take money to defeat money.

When Democrats send fundraising emails saying, “We don’t take corporate or billionaire money, so we’re counting on you,” I want to scream: “Then you’re going to lose!”

The moral high ground doesn’t mean much if it’s six feet under. If we want to beat the corporate and billionaire-funded far-right machine, we’d better stop pretending this is a purity contest. Get on the bandwagon—or get left behind.

Thank you for sharing your experience which has led to reasoning that most of us are not privy to.

It's now June 8, and I'm re-reading this PI report to try to understand what is beneath the surface. Senators Schiff and Warner seem to not make sense although their intentions may be in the right place. [Still missing Katie Porter. What was the answer for her? To turn about face and support Crypto? Is that what Sherrod Brown of Ohio should have done?]

I think you have it backwards. The majority of Dems in Congress are so solicitous of potential big donors that they have abandoned the working class.

Anyway, the line that we take corporate or billionaire money is obsolete in the age of "independent" corporate and PAC spending.

The smart money always gives to both sides. Currying favor knows no limits. The restraint can be shown by those in positions of influence. Sadly, not often done.

Money - crypto or cash - is the the root of all (political) evil. Citizens United poured Miracle-Gro on it.

And, so what do we do? Honor our inner moral sense of integrity and let all of these shallow fools get increasingly richer while we do our best to elect Democrats like Bernie Sanders and AOC?

This is a sad conundrum. If you think about this critically, however, the Democratic senators who have taken money are between a rock and a hard place. It doesn't make it right that they are taking this money, but they do need the cash to run successful campaigns and get themselves out there in front of the world. The senators named are among our future leaders, if there are ever to be future Democratic leaders. It has to be hard, though, to look at any one bill and find yourself 100% at odds with it, especially when there are financial incentives that sway them toward supporting such a bill and balancing your vote without considering how you pay the bills. Our system has devolved to this as a result of Citizens United. There is no way that the American electorate can fully fund the increasing expenses associated with our political system. I certainly can't make a dent in the funding when I'm held up against the likes of Andreesen, Musk, and Koch, etc.

If the Dems were anything other than a vehicle for amassing wealth & power they’d unanimously oppose this SHIT. But no. Schiff, Gallego, Gilibrand … are in it for the PAYOFF.

I’m disenrolling today. Ive had it with these grifters.

To the Democratic Party: FUCK YOU & your 100% fake commitment to Democracy & the Rule of Law.

Sorry, you act like this is a zero-sum game, just like Trump does on everything. But it isn't. You've just fallen into their rhetoric, lock, stock, and barrel. There is no perfect answer, but throwing it all behind the corruption and tyranny that is the current Republican party is insanity. They are legislating for the whitest, the most male-dominated, the richest, all at the expense of even the most minimally marginalized. You're worried about Dems taking some money while Trump is making our country stupid while he lines his own pockets and the pockets of his family and friends.

Thank you Popular Information team for delving into this crypto area that I "can't begin to understand" because it makes no sense to me. Suspicion arises when the money is followed and people--even if they are Democrats--profit. After the impeachment trials, I trust Adam Schiff to be on the knowledgable side of the law. BUT I TRUST KATIE PORTER MORE!

I still wonder if all involved in this crypto game will end up losing enormous amounts of their eagerly sought advantage. Elon Musk has felt the sting of peope turning against his lack of moral principle in his sharp total wealth decline. Maybe the Trump family will face a similar decline?

My congressman Chris Deluzio also does not take crypto payoffs, nor corporate cash. I happily donate monthly to keep him in office. Corruption is destroying this country through the privatization of everything government does including issuing currency.

ahh stablecoin....why do they give names to these things that are the opposite to what they really represent? trump himself said it was a scam years ago before his sons were able to point out to him how easily he could make real dollars....you notice they don't invest in it. that's for suckers. they make their money off the commissions these fools pay that buy and sell thinking the trump name lends some form of credibility or stability. pt barnum is alive and well in this administration.

I have begun to ask at cash registers everywhere I go, "Do you take crypto?" After the cashier's face registers confusion they typically say, I don't think so.

Have you ever been asked to pay for anything with crypto? Me? Once, by a pot dealer.

In the late nineteenth century, the robber barons - JP Morgan, Carnegie, Mellon, Vanderbilts - ruled the country. Over the next several decades progressive reforms came in such as health inspections for food and the federal income tax. Workers formed labor unions at great personal risk and won the end of child labor, the 40-hour week, and more.

IT CAN BE DONE BY REGULAR PEOPLE.
