Thank you for doing the work of tracking this! It's so helpful to have this list. I will support the companies that support democracy.

Yes. Also, I will be sharing this with people I know.

Yes! I would never have predicted either the promise-breakers or the promise-keepers. Great reporting!

Very good information to have. Tragic that so very, very few corporations have put the national interests above their own.

"Corporations have put the national interests above their own" sounds like a headline for Borowitz.

And how sad is that...

Thank you Popular Information team for the hard work of researching and now publicizng which corporations have kept their word. Keeping a promise and having ones word mean something remains profoundly important at all times, but especially now.

Ari Melber has done a good job of showing what many Republicans said following the January 6 2021 insurrection, and how they have all made those noble words become meaningless now. We must tell and honor the truth or we stand for nothing.

I don't know about Costco and donations, but they get my money for 1) treating their employees well, and 2) pushing back on the DEI critics.

Expand full comment

Ever noticed how generally happy Costco employees are? I once made a snarky comment about Costco in the checkout line and the checker and bagger corrected me by saying how much they liked working there.

Expand full comment

Yes, and I've also noticed that my Costco has had many of the same employees the whole time I've been shopping there -- over 20 years! That tells me everything I need to know.

Do we need further proof that rampant capitalism and authoritarianism go hand-in-hand? Money trumps morals is the three word conclusion I come to.

My mother taught me to buy quality items that last and then I became a child of the protests for farm workers and not buying "ice berg lettuce" in the '70's. I learned a long time ago to make the effort of using my dollars to support the good companies and protest the bad ones. I've not purchased anything from Amazon in decades. Thank you for alerting us to these companies that keep their word.

I am the odd bird in my orbit. Amazon is conveniently traitorous

Does anyone know where Walmart stands on all of this?

Expand full comment

seems Walmart rolled back all the DEI promises, but Target has doubled down on DEI. This was reported by MeidasTouch.

Good to know. They are the only ones I can find that still recycles. Target it is.

Why isn’t this a story in everyone’s mailbox ? We need new and vigorous reporting on a large scale. This Substack needs to g really BIG to shame the other media outlets into doing their job. Big money buying up media! We to go around the media controled by big money interests. Do not support those who do not support the truth and ultimately us.

Thank goodness there are some decent companies left in the USA.

Check out the app "Goods Unite Us." They track whether companies give to Dems or Rs, and how much.

This information is very helpful. In December I cancelled my subscription to the Washington Post and membership to Amazon. I read that Tim Cook donated $1m to Trump’s inaugural fund. Trying to figure how to girlcott Apple. Going to start by cancelling my Apple Card.

Thank you for tracking and sharing this information! I'll be passing it forward.

Thank you for this. How very depressing that the leaders of our capitalist society have chosen to reward those who have tried to destroy our way of life. It is sad that so few have the integrity of alley cats. Apologies to alley cats. Our society is for sale or will it just be given away to Vlad. Boils down to the morals of greedy bastards….

Real, basic journalism; this is the fourth “branch” of government at work. Thanks for the information.

Expand full comment

Should journalism be considered a branch of government, even with scare quotes around "branch"? I don't think so. I've been calling corporations and the mega-wealthy the unelected fourth branch of government because two of the other three branches dance to their tune (and the third is about to join them). It's bad enough that so many journalists and mainstream news outlets pull their punches to avoid alienating sources in high places.

Thank you. I feel lists and comments like yours should be sung from the rooftops! Keep in the news those who don’t stand up for beliefs or principles. So little shame.
