Dollar General is always busy here. They open at 8 am with a strong suggestion towards allowing only elderly shop til 9.

Kroger implemented similar this week.

They are everywhere if they here in my county. In my area of pop. 33,000, there are four Dollar General Stores. One of them is a Dollar General Market.

Multiply that across the country and they can afford to pay sick leave.

The beat down of the American worker.

Stop!

Amazon response is so Bezos'. So Trump.

I wonder when (or perhaps if, unless Trump is forcibly restrained) things return to a state of relative normalcy whether the push for paid sick leave and scrutiny of executive-worker pay disparity will hit the mainstream and become a tenet of a people's movement. This pandemic has really laid so much bare.

Tweeted and got a bite, Judd, from DG: Hi, Gloria. Dollar General previously announced its plans to invest approximately $35 million in bonuses for all store, distribution center and private fleet employees. Details of the bonuses were shared with employees beginning last week. Thanks for your concern. -Jeremy

Dollar General and Family Dollar are each under pressure from “activist investors” not to do anything that changes the bottom line - or else. These are very profitable companies.

I am so ambivalent about you doing this for free right now. The info is critical. You’re even more valuable than ever.

So what do they call this $1/hour raise from Mar 21-May 21... the “for a limited time only” raise? The “Coronavirus special”? Now you see it; now you don’t.

Corporations don’t have hearts. People have hearts. Except maybe the ones who run corporations.

Corporations can’t catch the virus, but they sure as hell can use it to infect others. And use it to keep fattening their own pockets.

I continue to be reminded that “The love of money is the the root of all evil.”

I wonder which news outlet might be convinced to run this story... Your timing on this one is good, Judd; I’ll be sharing it.

Be well, everybody.

What’s the situation at archrival Family Dollar?

Thanks Judd for the opportunity to share this. I just did along with the reason why they’re getting no more of our money until-well, until never if I have anything to say about it in the future. We like our local Dollar Store employees but they are always harried, hassled, and busy. All that tells me is they work short handed and I know they work sick. I’ve seen that. This business of ill-treatment of employees is as pandemic as this disease here in the States. Maybe, just maybe this situation we’re finding ourselves in, will be the exposure we’ve needed to start fixing some of these employer shortcomings.
