Nothing characterizes the otherwise incompetent Trump regime more than its ability to imply they welcome, solicit, demand and receive bribes with total impunity.

It's Pay to Play, baby!! Corruption-Is-Us, the quintessential GOP administrative style. How do you know if a GOP pol is *honest?* It's when they *stay* bought! That last quip is paraphrased from a Roman philosopher; but it's still apt.

Rickey Woody's avatar

Exactly. Republicans are allowing this and getting the wheels greased as well.

How can this open corruption continue day after day? Unchallenged by anyone but Judd! It’s obvious that pay to play happens every moment of every day yet here we are…this lone voice in the wilderness. Where is Fox News who pounded out the “The Biden Crime Family” “news” every day relentlessly. Yet real crime, this continued corruption, continues without even a whimper. Of course the DOJ and FBI will do nothing no matter how bad it gets but is there no other avenue to challenge and stop this?

GET OUT AND VOTE! Our only hope.

I wonder that too. Why is this not reported by the news? There are so many instances of crime with the current administration that headlines could write themselves.

Conservative media, like FOX and Newmax, simply don't run these ledes. Unless it's a Democrat that's been caught. Thus, 30% of the country that votes GOP simply has *no* idea of the scale of the corruption and incompetence that characterizes Trump2 and GOP-controlled DC. Polling has pretty conclusively shown that RW media viewers--especially those of FOX News--are pretty much clueless about what's going on. For example, just a week ago, 83% of FOX News-watching conservatives approved of this new Trump-Epstein War that's crashing the global economy.

The House, and possibly also the Senate, are going to be swept by a Blue tsunami in just a few months. So place your Kalshi bets now that 2027 will see a whole raft of corruption and pedophilia-protection investigations into the Trump Crime Family. As the first modern Democracy, we are unlike most EU countries, that can vote out a government within months of it proving incompetent and corrupt. Barring another impeachment--a successful one--we're stuck with Trump2 until '28.

When Trump2 fights the inevitable bucketloads of Congressional subpoenas for testimony and documents starting next January, the Dems will use that as just more fodder for another Blue wave in '28. Because as long as FBI & DOJ remain under Trump's control, they will not be used to harm a financial or Epstein-adjacent hair on his spray-tanned head.

Am I on the side of Scotts Valley? Not really. This legal fight seems most consequential for the parties involved, and I don't have any particular regard for these casinos other than as revenue generators for these tribes.

The biggest takeaway for me is an illustration of what it costs financially to peddle influence in Washington and the aggressiveness of firms like Miller's in pressing their clients' agenda. This is what business looks like in D.C.

Another example, again, that corruption exists on all levels of interaction in the Queens real estate mob boss sundowning as Presidents administration.

You can thank The Supreme Court and Citizens United for this financial insanity.

We have the best “government” money can buy.

Sunset & Fire's avatar

We're going to have to purge these people from government, top to bottom, every single one who takes part in Trump's graft.

A little help on the tribe's pronunciation would be helpful.

You have to wonder, the lobbyist aside, how many government workers in this story are getting a kickback? I hope the tribe and its customers have deep pockets because not only do the lobbyists have their hands out, it appears those who represent the government do too. An even deeper story would be to find out how many palms were greased that didn't show up in discovery. You know how you can tell? Look at their pants. Are there grease stains where they wiped their slippery hands as they put "a little something" into their pockets? Telltale sign of corruption, greasy hands, greasy pockets.

This story and hundreds like it show how transparently corrupt our government has become. Who cares? Twump will fix it.

These Tribal Casino Stories in California...are now decades old. Basically, if you are a tribe--no matter how tiny--the closer you can open a new Casino to a major population center, the more $$$ you'll make. It's the big Las Vegas casinos that set everything up, using their money and influence and operational expertise. They provide the Tribe a cut; and sometimes provide some jobs. But they'll bitterly fight any other tribe building nearby. And Department of the Interior is apparently one of the more corrupt federal departments. Especially under GOP rule.

A patient of mine decided to try to prevent a new tribal casino opening near Santa Rosa--N of San Fran--and it was brutal, as the Vegas backers threw around a lot of money and false promises to work the deal and make new friends.

The casino got built; but my patient made such waves that she's now Mayor of her town!

How many bad deals will have to be undone after the maladministration has been deposed? You think tariff reimbursement is a mess? Just wait until this ball of nasty gets unwound. All of this due to one dude fueled by rapacious need, enabled by others fueled by racism and insatiable greed,

NubbyShober's avatar

It's an entire political party. It's not that Dems sometimes don't do corruption; it's that the GOP completely outclasses them both in the size and frequency of bribes.

The GOP is especially adroit as seizing power. They've got a dedicated 24/7 propaganda machine in FOX News, Newsmax, etc. And they're exceptional in their national RNC-issued messaging. Which the Dems simply do not have.

But once in power...They are incompetent, wasteful and corrupt. They help a few of their Oligarch cronies; and screw the rest of the country...and the world.

I, too, am nauseous every morning as I read the horror stories that have replaced the "if it bleeds it leads" journalism of yesteryear.

And this is a minor bit involving very narrow interests. Imagine the rivers of cash flowing in to 47 and his spawn daily. Remember in November.

I’m not questioning the outright grift and Treason, but I would love to understand how All past Presidential Candidates received donations from “interested Parties” and the resulting influence it had, if any.

One of the BS responses to this kind of reporting is “they all do it”. I have no information on how donations actually do influence candidates.

I understand trump is in a league of his own in the stealing, lying and destruction. Do lobbyists have more influence than PAC money?

Curious about all of this.

Lobbyists are a fact of life in DC. The difference in the trump administration is the lack of integrity, transparency and the endless conflicts of interest. The lack of accountability these days is off the charts. Citizens United didn’t help.

Read: “Fleeced” by Dick Morris. If you think $2 million is a lot, consider that K Street lobbyists advocate/influence government decisions on behalf of foreign governments/ dictators, as well as billions spent on corporate interests…

DogDays of Fascism's avatar

Jeffrey H. Birnbaum's “The Lobbyists” also exposes Washington’s most influential players. There are 80,000 registered lobbyists in DC! The 1990’s saw huge changes in how lobbyists operate. The current administration has taken it to a whole new level…

Corruption everywhere we look.

there'd be no bribes if people didn't have their hands out....it's discouraging to note this is how our country seems to operate.....it's more blatant it seems with trump but i don't know of a single congress person who hasn't been enriched by "serving".
