In other words, AAER is another well funded right wing operation that seeks out mediocre white men as plaintiffs who have no real standing and uses them to score judicial points against equal rights for the majority. Got it.

Not the majority, minorities. Right? At least that's how I read it. Minorities don't have equal rights, the organizations working to rectify it are trying to raise their standing so they have a more even playing field in various areas including, in this case, to become successful small business owners.

Yes, minorities and women. All of these groups are in the world for one reason and one reason only - to preserve or restore supremacy to mediocre white Christian men. The progress of the late 20th and early 21st century meant that they had to compete on a more level playing field (oh, they still had an advantage to be sure) and they couldn't win every time. And this makes them crazy. And gives us mediocre losers like George W Bush and Dementia J Trump.

So the miniscule amount of 0.0006% of total funding from venture capitalists between 2009 and 2017 awarded to Black women seeking to create viable businesses is too much for the Trump-minded!

How those who want to discriminate against any group of people who need some assistance to initiate a successful business reveals a petty and mean-spirited character. Of course Steven Miller would be "all in" on such a move. So not only are these people arguing that systemic racism does not exist, but they are able to win law suits if Trump appointed judges are in power. See how the Trump appointed (gratis Leonard Leo Heritage Fund) judges of not only the SCOTUS can upend our country's functioning on basic freedoms, but lower court judges are able to undermine healthy encouragement to any kind of minority. Thank you Judd for uncovering what's going on in lesser known legal matters that also affect many people. We must be careful not to think that because only 8% of the population are black women that other "minorities" and all the rest of us won't be impaired by this kind of targeted prejudice.

For the arithmetically challenged, 0.0006% is six dollars out of every million.

Anyone like Blum who says systemic racism doesn't exist, is a flat-out liar. We know it does. He's trying to make sure it sticks around.

If you read the NYTimes story about the backlash against Ibrim X Kendi, none of this should be a surprise.

trump appointed judges and justices are a huge problem. They are ideologues chosen specifically for their right wing ideology. White grievances would be considered ridiculous if they weren't symptoms of the growing white supremacy movement led by republican congressmen and donald trump.

They have little to no humility.

AAER should just come out and wear their KKK uniforms.

Funnily enough they can't... Blum is Jewish. And as a fellow Jew, I am ashamed of his work, but his positions are exactly what conservatives hope for, And they come from the same place as black people in conservative positions who are horrifically, misogynist and racist against their own people or hate Jews... He's a minority who faced a lot of discrimination when he was young, but he was taught that it was because Black/Brown people were getting special treatment. And instead of banding with other minority groups who face discrimination, he fell prey to the poison of White Supremacy propaganda which pits all minorities against each other, fighting for tiny scraps to distract them from fighting TOGETHER to tople a system that goes against ALL of them. It's it's horrific and sad and I hate it so much. We have to see it, fight it, and do better. Eye on the prize of true equity and acceptance and freedom for all. Not distracted/jealous of someone who never got anything finally getting the smallest taste.

How do these people sleep at night, rolling around in hatred?

Expand full comment

They don't see it as hatred: they see it as "What did I accomplish for me today?"

Expand full comment

Disagree. I’ve seen their faces. Its hate.

Expand full comment

They tell themselves its not hate….its just truth telling or some BS like that.

I was thinking about at the end of the day when they go to sleep. Otherwise, I stand corrected.

Expand full comment

I don't think remorse or guilt are in their genetic makeup. Pretty sure when they go to bed they just sleep without thinking about it too much. That would require some form of guilt.

This is a very important issue in itself, but I think the true importance of this story lies in the identification of the "White Grievance INDUSTRY," as an actual corrupted system.

In the same way that charitable organizations have been exploited by some grifters for personal gain (create a charity, make yourself CEO, shill for donations, pay yourself a huge salary, collect feel-good media, get more donations, ad nauseum), the non-true believers, the hangers on and coat-tail riders of the right wing have exploited every niche of that ecosystem to enrich themselves.

From Turnip's whole political campaign machine, to the lawyer bonanzas of his criminal cases and the fraudulent lawsuits in the Stop The Steal nonsense, to businesses like the Cyber Ninjas, to the astroturfed right wing political groups (each with it's salaried hierarchy), all the way to the to the exploitative merch producers, there's an entire corrupt economic ecosystem feeding on the chaos and fear that they help to insite and create!

This isn't really about stopping racial inequality (or creating it, in thi case), this is about finding a wealthy pocketbook willing to enrich the pop-up industry built around fleecing butt-hurt right wing white nationalists and Christo-fascists while the fleecing is profitable.

Expand full comment

I believe it’s a bit of both: they don’t often truly care about their grievances - def more about the grifting.

BUT, some are truly hate & money motivated, so to have a chance to impede another race AND gain attention, money and power in the process is a full plan for them.

We white people really are the worst.

Couldn't this ruling have an adverse effect on many nonprofits? Large numbers of nonprofits cater to and specialize in assisting a certain part of the population - Latinos, Blacks, Disabled persons, Christians. I'm imagining a lawsuit against a large Christian nonprofit saying they have to serve the non-Christians too.

Expand full comment

This goes to the heart of my question posted a while ago. So a nonprofit that assists the disabled will have to offer the same services to those who don't need them? Or a nonprofit that provides camping experiences for inner city youth will have to offer the same camp to rich, white, suburban kids? How ridiculous!

Expand full comment

I don't think they'll care about those sorts of outcomes as long as they get to stick it to black women.

"Two women signed declarations stating that they were participating in the lawsuit using "a pseudonym because I operate a small business and, if my participating in the litigation becomes public, I fear reprisal against [my business] and myself.""

If their case is so just and righteous, why are they afraid to put their real names forward?

Excellent question.

Also one wonders how the alleged small business owning women feel about charities that provide grants to women, to the exclusion of men.

Expand full comment

The solution for me would be to find out the names of all businesses that are members of AAER and boycott ALL of them, not just the two supposedly women-owned members that are party to the suit.

The right wing-nuts are organized and tanked up on deceit and violence. Black Americans and Women are going to have to organize AGAIN as they did in the 60’s. We have to fight fire with fire—and the RNC Traitors have had 45 years to marshal resources. There needs to be sweeping changes made or we will all die of fascism.

Expand full comment

I’m so sick of these white aholes that get upset cause they’re not entitled to money meant for people of color. You want a grant then go and apply through agencies that cater to your whiteness! You say too much competition so I need money my whiteness isn’t entitled to so I’ll just sue you for it. If you have the money to sue then you don’t need the grant to begin with.

These Rich White Supremacist Organizations just keep coming and coming and coming out of the woodwork. Wish we could send them to North Korea where they can try to buy their way into access. It might work. The country needs money. Or it might not. That is what they are trying to turn us in to, but with so many "othereds" here, it is looking more like they just want Nazi Germany instead. How things ended for Hitler and his gang does not seem to be a deterrent. We need direct legislation to make it illegal to back someone else's lawsuit when the issue is not yours or that of the people you are backing. Something with serious consequences.

Ah, so despite not needing $1, and having access to 99% of all available $1 resources, they are harmed by another possibly getting 1 penny from 1 resource. Yep, that’s a legitimate legal concern. 🙄
