Here we go again. A pharmaceutical company pulls something somewhat illegal. They get caught, face a little punishment. These days, they write a check to you know who, and we sit around and wait for the fallout. In the meantime, maybe someone gets compensated, maybe not. The punishment for crimes by a pharmaceutical company need to be tightened up. Remember the Sacklers? Did they ever have to sell a yacht after all of those years of devastated lives and deaths? Do these monsters who prey on sick people and healthy people who for some reason get caught in these grifters hands, ever really pay? Not often enough.
Did anyone else choke with hysterical laughter at the paragraph where agent Cohen said That the FBI would “ go after anyone who were enriching themselves at taxpayer’s expense”?
I had to get up and walk around for a few minutes to process that utterly absurd statement.
The day they “go after” the grifter in chief, I will believe that MAYBE we actually have an FBI and a Justice System.
Because as you and I both know all to well, the "MSM" (no longer "main stream") will never report anything that shows the orange sadist in a bad light.
Main stream TV news ceased being anything other than pap for the masses when they decided to make “news” a revenue generator, rather than a public service.
We once had newspapers that employed investigative reporters, but since the internet put newspapers out of business, this is the only place to go for this kind of reporting.
The market will prevail, and right-wing pseudo-news can apparently only sustain a vastly unreliable audience. But certainly, as someone who remembers Walter Cronkite, it's been a very sad time....for decades so far.
I don't think we will ever forget Cronkite removing his glasses as he announced John Kennedy's death. Back when there was a human element in production. A human relationship.
You make an excellent point about how more and more of us are no longer watching TV news, and many of us have canceled subscriptions to formerly responsible newspapers. I, too, remember Walter Cronkite -- every night at 6:30 PM every night throughout my childhood and teens. (My parents had us all watch the news over dinner, in part to prevent squabbling at the table. However, I remember during the VN war, as more and more horrific news was shown, thinking that my parents really shouldn't have us watching this over dinner!)

Peter… what is the backstory on Taylor Farms? I know they were identified as a source of the virus causing the explosive diarrhea events, but have not read much more. Were they hiding and/or manipulating data for their own benefit?
Owned by Sysco, one of the 10 companies that controls the US food supply (and most of the global supply as well). Big Republican donor, gave thousands to MAGA Inc as recently as this March. It's been cited 13 times before for contaminated food. So, were they hiding or manipulating data? Who knows. Does it look like they had some "connections" at FDA that is trying to help them shift the blame to their customers, looks that way. I did read that the most likely source of the parasite is contaminated irrigation water, something that is not uncommon in Mexico.
I think this is likely to lose them more than a few large customers not to mention the obvious consumer boycott. I will be using their response to this crisis in my management class on Crisis Management. It's a case study unfolding in real time.
In a better world, the current administration would go after corporate fraud as vigorously as it's currently going after voter fraud, the evidence of the latter being notably farcical. Instead, we have this timeline where the likes of QOL Medical can settle and donate their way to favorable treatment. Yuck.
Local MN news station KSTP regularly ignores stories like this on Federal fraud in favor of more politically appealing “local” fraud investigations. I forwarded numerous of these reports to them but they’ve never picked up & reported a single one.

When it comes to medicaid fraud none of it is people seeking unneeded care. Funny how the Trump Regime is witholding medicaid funding from a collection of blue states, accusing them of fraud, with far less evidence than has been discovered in this case which will vanish because of a bribe being paid.
Even the large "feeding our future" fraud here in Minnesota, which has been prosecuted and the perpetrators locked up for long jail terms, is just a drop in the ocean compared to all the fraud that's being perpetrated by the Trump regime or allowed to go unpunished if sufficient bribes to Trump are paid.
