In August, President Biden announced he would provide student debt relief to lower and middle-class borrowers. Under the plan, eligible individuals would get up to $20,000 in student debt canceled if they received Pell Grants and up to $10,000 otherwise. The program is open to individuals who make less than $125,000 annually ($250,000 for married couples). The plan will benefit up to 43 million borrowers, and up to 20 million people will see their loans zeroed out.
I graduated with a BS in Biochemistry in 2006 with $60K in student loan debt. My loans are currently at $90,000. They had ballooned to $130K when I struggled to find decent paying jobs during and after the 2008 recession.
$20K won't eliminate my debt but will help cut out some of the interest that has been eating me alive for almost 20 years now.
Funny how those who have the most in society work so hard to make sure that the rest of us never enjoy such priviledge...

This is just spite on the part of a few excessively wealthy people who are enjoying their oil profits at the nation's expense. The Koch would like to run the world. One of the Koch had a little chat with Putin before Putin jumped into war with Ukraine. (How nice.) I wonder how much the young man who is fronting for them is getting paid, because he IS getting thanked for this somehow. The amount of skullduggery is amazing. What's WRONG with forgiving debt?
