Will Collins' corporate backers still support him? Of course they will. Nothing seems to be too low, too racist, too sexist, too violent to drive corporate backers away from Republicans for anything more than a brief moment. Look at how they are flocking back to Trump...

Nancy Young's avatar

Or too hypocritical, I might add.

I suggest that we all repost this article on each of the named corporations social media pages.

Kate's avatar

Just posted the link on the insta accounts of coke, delta, home depot, and cox. Going back to do others now!

SeekingReason's avatar

KLS-I absolutely agree with reposting EVERYWHERE. I almost always re-post stories like this on my social media.

Rocko's avatar

I've already done this! Also to media outlets.

Thanks for consistently outing businesses that say one thing and do another.

I am a shareholder and internet customer of Verizon and I just sent a letter to executives stating my concern re their donations to politicians such as Mike Collins. Another reader mentioned how hard it is to patronize responsible businesses…but it can be done if you are willing to sacrifice some comforts or earnings. I am.

Lourine C's avatar

Thank you Jan. Joining you in contacting Verizon today as a many year customer to do the same - and to move my account elsewhere if I get no response. Thank you Judd for your important reporting as always.

If you decide to move your account, check out Credo mobile.

ty Shawn, will do, not heard of them!

And letter writing is effective.

Thank you for consistently holding these corporations’ feet to fire.

So much hypocrisy. Challenging to patronize only socially responsible businesses. Thanks for shining a light on these "cockroaches" among businesses.

Time to seek out a new communications provider I guess. I quit buying from HD 4 years ago. Follow the money. Money talks and Bu***hit walks. Want to change behavior...change your spending habits. 1 to 2 % of a revenue reduction doesn't take that many consumers and gets the attention of the shareholders and CEO's. If they can't do the right thing without some encouragement...let's see if we can be more active in providing that encouragement? Anyone with me/us?

Let's see if we can't organize a non-support corporation organization. No need to protest out in the street...doing right from the comfort of your home, business, while on vacation, or visiting with family or friends. Taking back ethical, morally adept, civility supporting American for a better and more civil, equitable, fair, and prosperous society.

Thank you for revealing once again the hypocrisy of these corporations, Judd. Seems that At&T and Verizon are repeat offenders.

VALERIE MELUSKEY's avatar

Thank you, Judd, for calling out the financiers of the racist Trumpian Congressmen who revel in promoting hatred. Our urge to boycott has no impact on a practical level, but exposing hypocrisy and confronting this use of money for evil purposes does have an impact.

learnin4life's avatar

Your comment is right on target. Boycotts have no impact because Xmillions people don't coordinate their activities. Calling out corporate behavior when it occurs is a reasonable alternative. Perhaps stockholders of the company in question could voice their concerns directly to the BODs. It seems wishful thinking that company's have some moral responsibility beyond shareholder returns. Then again, SCOTUS has suggested in so many words that companies are people in certain circumstances.

The kid imitating a monkey is obviously a damning image, but the other protester in the American flag gear seems all too appropriate. Racism? Uneven application of the belief in free speech? Very American indeed.

Sheri Smith's avatar

The parents of the kid imitating a monkey must be so proud.

Agreed! You know the way it goes Joe.

An interesting twist. The white racist Ole Miss students taunted a black student speaking out for a cease fire in Gaza. The current student protests against the war in Gaza vilify President Biden for supporting Israel militarily. The white racist Ole Miss students yelled "fuck Joe Biden" showing their ignorance of the anti-war protesters' general oppostion to Biden's support of Israel. Thus, the entire display by the white students was not about Gaza; it was instead the racist taunting of a black person in perfect continuation of the traditions of white southerners for hundreds of years to oppose equal rights under the law, the latter being the heart and soul of the Democratic Party and the source of the white students' disgusting antics. I think the Southern Poverty Law Center should look into the University of Mississippi and the Republican Party as provocateurs of hate crimes. Or has the SPLC already done that?

SeekingReason's avatar

James, without a doubt, instigators are sent to these protests to encourage harassment and violence.

James Burnham's avatar

That may be. But that issue was not discussed in the article. Nor did I express an analysis of the student protests against Israel. I don't give much significance to outside agitators because the Free Palestine demonstrators themselves are in full agreement. Their long-term anti-Israel position is fueled by far-left Chomskian 'anarchy', which is a cover for the stateless communism that Chomsky advocates. It's a complex and ugly situation. The most immediate necessities are the convictions of Netanyahu and Trump under prosecutions already under way but stalled.

It almost seems that socially responsible businesses have gone the way of the dinosaur, as they try to cater to "all sides". It's really just all about the money, not about people. But the same could be said for the many politicians lacking integrity and a social conscious. What has happened to us that we continue to vote for such hateful nasty people? I know there are good people out there; see them mostly on this platform, along with a few others like HRC. I think Biden is basically a good person who got suckered by Netanyahu who is just another trump; corrupt to the core. Is it too late to fix our part in this mess? I sure hope not, because the $&!^ keeps getting deeper, and the Palestinians have already run out of time.

Stephen Advokat's avatar

" Is it too late to fix our part in this mess? I sure hope so..." Did you mean to say this? Or, "I sure hope NOT..."?

Joyce's avatar

Thanks for catching that...that's exactly what I meant! 😂

Bonnie Svarstad's avatar

Is there a list of donors that we might use, speeding up our complaints/concerns to these donors?

Katy Bolger's avatar

Yes! Give us options, Judd, and we will take our business elsewhere. Home Depot is a convenient behemoth but is Ace Hardware a better conscientious choice? I hate all phone and cable companies for many reasons but what is the smaller more (ahem) liberal leaning options?

David Shible's avatar

File under two wrongs don't make a right. The students are gullible kids being egged on by agitators to protest against something they know little about except what the SJP feeds them. Those that want to harm the protesters are even worse for obvious reasons.

The hypocrisy isn't just Delta going back on its word. Hypocrisy is also Georgia's Republican state leaders who punished it because Delta's corporate leadership views differ from theirs. I always thought Republicans were against government overreach. Silly me.

Stephen Advokat's avatar

You think today's "Republicans" (MAGA) are against government overreach? Really?

David Shible's avatar

Of course not. Hence my "silly me" sarcasm.

Stephen Advokat's avatar

Ah, sarcasm. Silly me. ;-)

Julie's avatar

I’m not sure if they only know a little about what they’re protesting. I don’t think you should make those generalizations. They’ve seen the images of Gaza. They know the numbers of how many people have been killed. They also know about the atrocities by Hamas.

Grenna's avatar

When I look at that photo, I can’t help but wonder which of those racist frat boys will end up on the Supreme Court someday.

Stephen Advokat's avatar

Is it possible to add a link at the end of these stories to the PR departments of these hypocritical corporations so we readers can add out 2-cents?

James Burnham's avatar

And the investor relations departments.

Carlos Gomez's avatar

What is the most effective way to contact these companies to tell them to stop supporting hate?
