I find it fascinating that a regular guy like you, Judd, could dig up all this false information and yet the billionaire geniuses who created these sites are somehow stumped at how to stop the false information. Maybe the threat of prison time would nudge them along to clean up their businesses.

I can only hope Facebook is digging its own grave with all its exploitative practices. I've essentially stopped using it except to promote pieces of writing I've done, and I wonder if more people will abandon their accounts altogether.

It never fails to amaze me how many gullible, if not outright stupid, people there are out there.

The word “debunked” has lost meaning and we need to avoid it. The people who believe the lies that are “debunked” are not persuaded by the debunking, and I suspect the word has lost any weight and probably means to many people nothing more than “someone disagrees”. Too bad, because it is a good word, but generally it conveys more to say something like “... has been conclusively demonstrated to be untrue”.

Amusingly last night I mentioned to a friend in a FB post that my 33 year old pet pony Gunny who is somewhat of local celebrity, "was my daughter's 4H pony." I immediately got from FB the post didn't meet terms of service...

Later I re-typed it and I await to see if it gets attention again.

Of course all of Zuck's live FB meetings with Dr. Fauci are just lip service. Spread the anti vax venom for Covid at the same time.

More importantly FB serves as a mainstream media source. All of it is rolled in one giant mouthpiece. You have the NYT and the National Enquirer spewing to the masses on the same page. Video media from CNN to Newsmax giving shareable sound bites. All of these outlets seem equal to the undereducated and the degreed.

"We the people" in supporting our world view in the magic land of social media, have lost the ability of discernment.

Won't even touch the groups and pages because that would be more monumental than my time allows. You can pretty much be anything in a FB page or group. Good, bad or horrendous, (short of outright porn as that is the one thing I have not had crawl across my screen on FB.) Anything goes.

Aw the 1%. Zuck laughs all the way to the bank at our foolery.

I just had a post on Facebook automatically flagged for sharing accurate death totals from the past week of COVID compared to other major events. They flagged it with the most pedantic fact check ever, calling it "half true" because, among other things, the deaths on 9/11 weren't 'all deaths' from that day from all causes.

Facebook clearly has the resources to flag what they want, automatically. They just refuse to do so. Their selective flagging reveals conscious decisions on what to spread and what to control.

Keep at them Judd. Gives me hope when you’re still calling out FBs ineptitude and hypocrisy
