This is reminiscent of the treatment Zohran got when he and his office recommended that New Yorkers set their air conditioner to a certain temperature to help avoid overloading the power grid. It was in line with the city's precedent and something Republican administrations at the state and federal level advised. Pure fearmongering.

I was a teacher in NYC for years and there were times when the Post went after teachers as pedophiles, lazy, overpaid and (gasp) workfree during the summers. This was usually when the teacher's contract was up and we were negotiating with a Republican mayor. Demonize those money grabbers! I understand that real estate ownership is available via public records. I am unclear whether the list of the 960,000 people to be taxed was pulled from the list and published. It is one thing for one to be able to do a search of public records and quite another for a list of those properties to be publicly and separately made easily accessible.
If the tax is legitimate, tax them. But with the simmering tension in NYC and across our country, why publish a list at the announcement of the tax (if this is what happened). The info is still publicly available but publishing it with the announcement (again, if this is what happened) seems like political theater
