I would love to see DC and Puerto Rico be granted statehood, and for the electoral college to go bye bye. Both should have happened long ago, IMHO. However, the Republicans are way to invested in the current system, which gives them disproportionate power. As it stands now, we have voters in (for example) Wyoming and South Dakota dictating what happens in the far more populous states, like New York, California, etc. So long as that system favors the Republicans, they will never agree to any changes to it, and certainly, the voters in those smaller states (population-wise) won't agree to any changes which sees the powers that they currently wield get reduced in any way.
