My God! Every one of the false ads takes things Trump is actually doing & projects it onto Biden! Every one! (I know this isn’t new but for some reason it constantly astonishes me)
My daughter's 21 year old Native American friend has been put in FB time out twice for calling some loud mouth racist a "Cracker." He reported her. Judd maybe we should start a complaint campaign on these lying ads funded by the 1%.
Oh wait. Won't work. The FB weasels are earning millions. The old Sheepoles are getting bombarded.
Alternate Facts rule in a Presidency where he has told over 14,000 lies. It is a worrisome world that gets worse by the day.
I still work for Facebook (not on anything related to ads), and issues like this are why I went from being enthusiastic to personally avoiding using all products (FB and Instagram, but including even WhatsApp).
Still not ready to leave, and still trying to surface this at work, but sometimes I'm reminded of that line from Thank You For Smoking: "Everyone's got a mortgage to pay"
aka Sellout. My son interned and rec’d FT offer from FB. He said Thanks but no thanks. Paying the mortgage is one thing, but you forgot to mention the numerous and bountiful perks.
Are the perks that great, though, or are they just designed to keep you at work / to work around issues that normal companies don't suffer from? (e.g. imagine 10K+ employees all going out to get lunch outside). Even outside the impact to the larger society, at a local level there's a huge impact on traffic and on gentrification displacing local communities.
re: selling out -- somewhat, yes. There's a gradation, from people who still have the wool pulled over their eyes and think the company is great, to people who recognize issues and think they might as well try and fix it from the inside (effective altruists might fall here - if you're not irreplaceable, someone else with a lower moral standard could do your job anyway, without trying to fix things), to the jaded cynics who really just want to take the money -- to those who quit out of moral principles / refuse the offer.
And certainly those who justify staying to themselves, on the ground that they are trying to improve things, should question if they're just rationalizing...
Complicating things is how Big Tech hires so many people on work visas, and they basically are tied to the company until they get permanent residence (if you're from China or India that takes decades). Even after that there's some residual loyalty (you did mention perks - and large tech companies are more generous at sponsoring their employees). Stock grants are nice too,
But yeah when I finally move it will hopefully not be to a monopolistic Big Data company. Tip of the hat to your son for getting it right from the beginning.
I'd like to see a one-page splash of names and faces of decision-making members of "Facebook", esp those currently flying under the radar, along with "The Committee to Defend the President", Katie Harbath front and center - who is she? What did she do as a Republican operative? Idk if this link will carry, but ck this out: https://www.aspenideas.org/speakers/katie-harbath
And maybe some cross-referencing between FB and the Committee.
I'm also wondering about the monetary payoff to FB for those 3500 FB ads currently being run by the Trump campaign? According to a quick google, FB itself takes the base ad and targets users for the client. Which means FB is aiding and abetting the Committee. At very low cost to the client. There's gotta be more to this than we're seeing.
Facebook has proven over and over again that the only time they show any integrity is when they are outed for their poor ethics. I’ve stopped using my Facebook account and will be shutting it down. Mark Zuckerberg has deceived and obfuscated me one too many times. The Republican Party works in his favor when it comes to taxes and hands off governing of corporations. I just don’t know how he can live with himself.
You are doing wonderful work. Who else can put the truth out there? Steyer? Bloomberg? They could and I hope they do--in sharp, clear ads that show the way FB blatantly lies. Biden does not deserve this--of course, no one does, but he's the biggest threat to Trump's re-election.

Thanks for the investigations.

Or how he can call himself an American.
That makes him a traitor also.
They are all just soul-less.
Or aliens.
Shall we post this on Face Book? Yes, I believe I shall.
