Facebook disclosed the decision in an email to Vanita Gupta, president of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Gupta emailed top leadership at Facebook, including Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, on Thursday regarding Popular Information’s report and Trump’s “deliberately deceptive and misleading” ads.
Thank you for continually unmasking the hypocrisy and cynicism of Facebook. It would be great to see some research / reporting on their soon-to-be-heavily-publicized $130MM 'independent' content oversight board.
Actually if only Trump voters are being hoodwinked with these ads, and think they already did the Census the only people getting screwed are those Trumpers and the states they live in. Wouldn't that be a shame.
Here in VA I received something by snail mail from RNC about the Census s few weeks ago, but it was clearly a campaign money solicit. However, since I am not a complete ignoramus I could discern that.
Facebook is full of peeps using their cell phone apps, so likely they are not checking if they are clicking. My bet, unless they are MAGAS attracted to the horrible image of Donald Trump though, they never click on an ad. Why?
The FB bombardier sends forth beaucoup more ads to carpet bomb your news feed if you click on an ad.
LoL. And that same damn cell phone I am sure of it, listens to conversations, Alexa does to, and things I talked about at breakfast are showing up long before lunch as advertising on my FB news feed.
Heaven forbid that in one of my ignoramus moments, I ordered something from a FB ad.
That FB algorithm rat is still running thru the maze of my news feed trying for some credit card cheese!
I am more worried that some how the Covid-19 scare might put the census count at risk if it spreads, Stephen Miller likely is already thinking how to use it for GOP gain, and that is when the use of these Trump ads could fool more people.
I applied to be a census taker, went to a meeting about it. Those running the Census will come to your door if you don't respond. All of that is gearing up for this month and next. I was called to be a census taker but did not call back fast ( an hour) enough so went back in the pot of names.
Even FB cannot stop it. But something like Covid-19 might very well be what the Trump Adm. has been waiting for to exploit or postpone the count.
Honestly, we're screwed. I love Joe Biden but his age has stolen much of his sharpness. 😥 We're reduced now to hoping for something to disable Trump, stroke, economy, massively offensive criminality, etc
Do any of you really think that we can "vote out Mangowanker"? He owns the GOP and the SCOTUS. And if he loses the vote, he still has about ten desperate weeks before a Dem takes power. If he allows that, he knows he's going to prison. We must either hope for his incapacitation, or tie him to child sexual abuse, or something equally horrific. I don't think the beer virus is going to do it.
It has become a joke with my kids. My son wanted a Hokie (VT limestone) stone for his home theatre. He called around, googled talked about it.
Three days later what pops up in my feed on FB but a place to buy Hokie stone. I had purchased Hokie gear for three of my kids at Christmas on a FB ad. This was July 2019. A few days later we are on our weekly Sunday call and he bemoans no Hokie stone. I said oh I got that on my FB feed three days ago. I searched my feed, screenshoted it to him. He called the company and got his Hokie stone. Scary isn't it.
If Trump voters think they already did the Census does that not in fact hurt the Republican Party as well if those people are not counted in the REAL Census.
You mean that because they used the word 'census' everyone will panic and stop filling in the census forms when they do arrive. How stupid do you thing (wish) the populace is?? This is a nothingburger.
