Zuckerberg is a coward. It's insane that he cares more about what trump thinks of him than enforcing his own policies on his platform. Trump has a free pass to spread as many lies as he wants. He can tweet or post to facebook with impunity. It's disgusting and Zuck and Dorsey are two of the biggest cowards in the world.

Almost...he doesn't give a shit about Trump. He cares about his power and his profits, and whomever is going to legislate the things that will allow both of those to flourish will get his support. He's just another sociopath with a bottomless hole inside that he's endlessly (and unsuccessfully) going to try and fill with money. He's completely divorced from the consequences of his decisions and, more importantly, he doesn't care. THE ENDS ALWAYS JUSTIFY THE MEANS. GET. OFF. FACEBOOK.

I am a physician and I author a well known blog called Everythinghealth.net. It is non-political and well researched. Out of the blue, Facebook will not allow sharing of my blog and says it is objectionable. Many of my readers have asked for review by clicking a button on the banned site, but nothing happens and I’m sure there is no one really monitoring. When I see the false ads and medical hoaxes all over Facebook I am puzzled. My blog is non-commercial and meant to inform and educate. It makes no sense. There is no way to contact anyone at Facebook.

Please note: Although this may seem harsh, ANYONE who is still using Facebook after everything that has been revealed about them manipulating voters to create division, and selling their users private information for PROFIT, is PART OF THE PROBLEM. Why are you complaining about their refusal to change, when every person on their platform is allowing them to think they don't need to! This is a perfect example of why I left FB in early 2018. I was a Bernie supporter and a vocal Trump critic, and all of a sudden I was locked out of my account. When I contacted them, I received no response, except for a message telling me my content was under review for three days. When I finally got back in, some of my personal photos had been deleted. No one is there to provide an explanation of why photos taken with loved ones would suddenly disappear. You know what though? I HAVEN'T MISSED IT. There are other ways to connect with like minded people, platforms such as Reddit, where people are much more educated and intelligent, it would seem. GET OFF FB. EVEN TEMPORARILY. TELL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME. Why would Zuckerberg care about anything but the billions he's making each quarter, if none of you will hold the asshole accountable?!?!

Good advice. I did it once before but went back on with the Corona virus to educate.

I thought Mark Zuckerberg could sink no lower; and yet he has...I recommend closing Facebook accounts. LETS SEND MARK A MESSAGE HE WILL PAY ATTENTION TO.

Zuckerberg is the social media version of William Barr.

Expand full comment

Not exactly. Barr knows exactly what he's doing. Zuckerberg? Clueless. Thinks he has to tread a "fine" (as if) line to prevent a large part of his US user base going off to some undefined competitor. He doesn't get that the reaction on the right will be about as damaging as the reaction from the left. I mean, my daughter emigrated after the blob was elected, but she still has a FB account. And she's as left as I am - maybe more.

The impact from acting like a mensch on his bottom line would be less than rounding error.

Robert the guy went to Harvard. He knows exactly what he is doing. Judd has written about the GOPers in his top echelon of employees. He eats dinner with The Federalist Society.

He is a dangerous individual.

Don't be naive. He is playing the same who me? Game as Barr plays.

I disagree. Bush went to Yale. Yes, Zuckerberg is math sharp and probably aced the SATs, but he's way, way over his head in the realm of human relations and diplomacy. Z couldn't carry Barr's shorts. He's playing at being shrewd, but is proving to be an idiot. He fell into a gold mine and thinks he's like Musk, the smartest guy on the planet. Barr, on the other hand, doesn't care about that sort of crap. He's pure Machiavellian to Zuckerberg's Curly.

You sell him short. We will agree to disagree. Barr has years of practice. Zuck will get there.

Great work as always, Judd. Regarding your interpretation of Trump's looting/shooting post, and Zuckerberg's response to it: The issue goes beyond a potential incitement to vigilante justice. Trump is signaling to *police* that he supports their use of violence. Which is exactly the crux of the current protests against police violence, and the counter-protest actions by police. He's letting the police know that he completely supports any reaction against the protesters (he uses the term "looters" interchangeably with protesters), up to and including murder. This is a similar kind of messaging as when Trump told a group of police officers, deputies, and ICE officers in 2017 that, "when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon — you just see them thrown in, rough — I said, please don’t be too nice. (Laughter.) Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over? ... you can take the hand away, okay?" It's his mafia-style communication again, as pointed out by Michael Cohen, that he never tells his target audience to do something illegal. He hints that if they do, he'll make sure they don't face consequences.

Republicans are just trotting out the worst of the worst these days. I may have my issues with the Democratic Party, but these candidates don't appear to have any redeeming qualities.

To me, a "thorough" decision involves actually consulting the candidate.

As in all matters, the question, there must be a better way comes to my mind regarding closing a facebook account. Although deeply saddened and appalled by changes in our country regarding misuse of money to keep the selfish, greedy, and corrupt in power, I don't plan to leave the country and renounce my citizenship. Listen to yourself. You say you are saddened and appalled by the misuse of money to keep the greedy and corrupt in power, but just moments earlier you write there must be a better way than closing a FB account. You're so close to getting it!! Don't you understand...you want to keep an account that actually provides no services which are fundamental to your life, actually CONTRIBUTES to the breakdown of Democracy, and keeps the greedy elite in power....and then you want to complain about sad it makes you. FFS...why are you so married to Facebook? Did you like high school that much?
