Facebook says it is "taking aggressive steps to stop misinformation and harmful content from spreading." Specifically, the company has pledged to "remove COVID-19 related misinformation that could contribute to imminent physical harm." But, in the context of a deadly pandemic, what does that mean?
As always, I value this analysis, but it's getting deflating reading it without knowing what to do with it beyond sharing it -- and even then, I worry our voices would get drowned out by all the mis- and disinformation you described above. This is not to say I'm giving up hope, but you see a lot of everyday people doing the right thing and then a few "bad apples" not doing their part, aided and abetted by Facebook's inaction. It's just frustrating.
Excellent work on Kroger's. Insofar as Facebook is concerned, it is clear that it is a "Republican" platform. Unfortunately, too many people trust it as their news source.
Even our idiot, Rep. Ben Cline, (R) US House, sent out a flyer by mail recommending wearing a mask. But I watched crowed restaurant s and bars on TV and drive by all weekend and no social distancing. WH Azar lied on TV no increase in cases.
Palm Beach reported 71% increase since re-opening two weeks ago I saw over the weekend.
Zuck sucks. He has a vacuous tendency to be a 1%er playing to the masses.
Well done Judd. It's amazing the uplift deleting Facebook has created for me personally. Unfortunately that's only good for me. I am leading a volunteer mask making effort in my local community. We've put out nearly 6000 free cloth sewn masks, distributing through the fire stations, hardware store and school lunch program. I'm sharing this with our volunteer who is managing our Facebook effort. There will be another person out there reporting the mis- information thanks to your work.
Thank you for all you do and all of your hard work! I don't know when you sleep. 🤷 We are a selfrun fur-kids shelter. My other half has a full-time job, so we relate, is the point..! We run 24/7. I couldn't do both. So we count on you, to keep up with details we can't.
My manager loves to tell me that OSHA has said non medical face masks do absolutely nothing to protect you from the virus. And because we are essential but not essential, we do not warrant medical face masks. I’ve argued the point to no avail. It’s beyond frustrating.
Facebook should be a nonprofit. And, Zuckface should *probably* be in jail, but I know he's too fat for justice, so he should go into seclusion to work on his own favorite, personal project: Attempting to masturbate himself to death while leering at headlines of his own fame.
I deleted FB a year ago and this website gave me the strength to do that. I hadn't been on for many years but I was addicted to it, and for no good reason. It just seemed to suck my time and make me feel bad. I guess that's true of most addictive sources. But more than that, it is a cesspool and I try to stay out of the sewer. Smells sweeter from over here and I don't miss anything. I am one of the most well informed people I know. And honestly, I do not care about your vacation. Or your nostalgia. Both make me sad.

Thanks for the great reporting, as ever, Judd. Two words concerning Facebook: delete it.
It is a threat to our democracy.

This is enough to make a preacher cuss.

Congratulations on your Kroger work.
Thank you for continuing to ‘out’ the greedy, the misinformers, and the liars who are poisoning our country.

Thank you for pursuing this.

Thank you so much! ❣️👊
I will continue to use facebook sparingly because of its inability to remove misinformation.

Thank you, Judd. Your column shines light in the darkness and gives us hope. Every bit of light helps. Yours helps *and* gets results. Well done. 🙏👍
