Of course the Wall Street Journal would amplify Koch's rebranding efforts. As long as conservative and even neutral media give him and Americans for Prosperity an out, fighting their agenda is going to be difficult.

This devil simply wanted people to believe that he's the sweet ole' Grandpa he looks like. He wasn't about to "change" anymore than The Orange Windbag would.

Living in KS and watching this man’s and his late brother’s puppet erring for the last 38 years, the only thing that never believed were the comments he made post-1/6. His network (and the army of DEEP believers it’s created) have launched too many wars and maintained too heavy a presence in the statehouse to just “watch carefully” or donate strategically differently. And lo’— here we are and things have not changed. Power begets more

Power. Koch’s kind of self-interest begets more egotism and self-absorption, not greater social solidarity. The heavy hand of AFP and ALEC evident in the state legislatures continues to belie his/their true intentions.

At CPAC last year, Charles Koch told attendees that their movement can no longer afford to be a single-party operation.

His cabal of wanna-be tyrants acknowledges that in 4 short years they've trashed the GOP's credibility. His plans have not changed, but he drove the GOP into the ground and now he needs a new vehicle for his stooges.

Incidentally, I believe his opening statement at that same event was something very close to, "Never hesitate to partner with anyone to do right." Seems like the closest anyone will get to a public admission that the GOP willingly collaborated with America's enemies (including organized crime) in their effort to seize government.

The upshot of all this: expect a new wave of "Democrats" to appear who are actually in league with the Koch Empire. Be very careful who you support and donate to over these next elections. That includes extra-party actors, such as Patreon-funded muck-raking news outfits. There is a very good chance that we are about to experience a period of unprecedented infiltration.

Joseph McCarthy was just 70 years before his time.

What I keep saying: This failed state, anti-progress, anti-democracy crap is what the ruling class wants. Like in all shithole nations, what the ruling class is what the ruling class gets.

Theoretically, we can vote out the ruling class’ puppets but the American voter has proven nearly always that that’s beyond their actual abilities.

The Robber Baron era was followed by the Progressive Era. The "Roaring Twenties" was followed by the New Deal. Labor unions gained power. Church ladies and brave teens in the civil rights movement won big victories. It is not impossible for grassroots action to drive politics. It takes guts, smarts, and persistence. I hope you are you actively fighting against the ruling class and not just spitting cynicism.

Doing what I can but the social media angle requires consciousness raising for those who likely are unaware of how fucked update things are.

And sure, push back from the people can result in good things being done but now one party is 100% opposed to that and the other party is let’s say ambivalent or conflicted.

Still, good things can be forced by we the people.

The devil himself must have been a Koch. Latest conspiracy scuttle on Twitter accuses him of paying Manchin to not cooperate in the Senate. Would be no surprise.

Your fingers must have burned when you wrote this excellent piece. He is one of many wealthy conservatives to contribute to the ruination of America.

How I loathe the 1%.

Tigers don't change stripes, leopards don't change their spots, rats are rats and a skunk is skunk. The Koch brothers are the epitome of human greed and corruption and that is a very high mark to achieve. They are a well greased machine that controls the feed of information to otherwise uninformed people. Worse of all, it is the planet itself that is suffering. We mere mortals have a tiny life span compared to Earth, whose life is being seriously threatened by the Koch brothers et al.

Judd, I would like to see a story on how the top 1% (or .01%) are preparing for the inevitable changes that climate change is bringing - not only the environment suffering but the attendant diaspora of hundreds of millions people away from unliveable land to other land. How are the super wealthy feathering their islands for doomsday? (Feathering is metpahor for comfort, but also for weapons and private security re: the services of Eric Prince. Does Amway have an island? Does Walmart? Exxon?) (Wow, I just realized how conspiratorial that sounds, but case in point: Epstein.)

I'll take the Tigers, Leopards, rats and the skunks, everything they do is instinctual. What this devil does is calculated. He sits back on billions that could help others and devises ways to hurt people more! I agree with your assessment but I'm always disturbed when people use animal analogies, this man has a Human Brain ( as damaged as it is).

I'm pretty sure the super-rich are counting on a devastating wave of climate-induced deaths to kill most of their victims before justice can catch up with them. If we don't stop billionaires once and for all in the 2020s, the only humans to survive will be the scions and acolytes of viciously greedy sociopaths. History will be written by, and for, the spoiled brat children of the monsters who are exterminating us.

Has an iota of truth EVER escaped a Koch’s lips? I think not. Bad to the bone…and infecting as many people and organizations as possible. He makes the COVID pandemic look tame in comparison. The damage he and his family have done is NOT GOING AWAY!

AFP activists used to call me to lobby their points about one thing or another that they're for or against and ask me to contact my legislators. In almost every case, after some point/counterpoint, I eventually asked each of them exactly WHOSE prosperity they were for, because they sure as hell weren't for mine.

They don't call me any more, thankyouverymuch.
