At CPAC last year, Charles Koch told attendees that their movement can no longer afford to be a single-party operation.
His cabal of wanna-be tyrants acknowledges that in 4 short years they've trashed the GOP's credibility. His plans have not changed, but he drove the GOP into the ground and now he needs a new vehicle for his stooges.
Incidentally, I believe his opening statement at that same event was something very close to, "Never hesitate to partner with anyone to do right." Seems like the closest anyone will get to a public admission that the GOP willingly collaborated with America's enemies (including organized crime) in their effort to seize government.
The upshot of all this: expect a new wave of "Democrats" to appear who are actually in league with the Koch Empire. Be very careful who you support and donate to over these next elections. That includes extra-party actors, such as Patreon-funded muck-raking news outfits. There is a very good chance that we are about to experience a period of unprecedented infiltration.

The Robber Baron era was followed by the Progressive Era. The "Roaring Twenties" was followed by the New Deal. Labor unions gained power. Church ladies and brave teens in the civil rights movement won big victories. It is not impossible for grassroots action to drive politics. It takes guts, smarts, and persistence.
