One big bloated entertainment/news company is the goal I guess. I get that Jared kUshner is the center of this story of greed and foreign influence but as a consumer of entertainment I want a diverse range of shows and movies and I want my news based on fact and with as little bias as possible. These simple things we take for granted are all disappearing as the Twump cwime family continue to rape and pillage wherever they smell blood in the water a/k/a money to be had.
Purely from a consumer standpoint, this seems like a no-win situation. The only small sense of satisfaction with Netflix buying WBD is that it would keep any and all Ellisons away from the merger. At the end of the day, though, it's just more media conglomeration on top of ethical concerns of a potential Saudi-backed hostile takeover.
Take over all the media and own the people. That is what autocrats do. Where do people find the truth if media has been taken over by forces who support “dear leader”?
Acquisition of WBD by Paramount or Netflix is for the consumer merely the difference between a rock and a hard place. It’s either a monopoly for killing theaters and raising streaming prices (Netflix) or a way to dominate political propaganda and siphon data for AI, billionaires and foreign countries (Paramount). Either way it’s no win for the rest of us.

Think about how much these programs could be making if all their episodes are shown in movie theatres Netflix owns as well as movie theatres it does not own. Think about how much money they could make renting out and selling DVDs and games based on them in video rental stores they own. They could also own Stranger Things theme parks, Bridgerton Theme Parks, etc.
The movie theatres that Netflix owns could have DVD rental, game rentals, game machine rentals.
