Shady individuals and companies., mafia, oligarchs. Sounds like a perfect Trump crime family project.

"...the project involved a “network of shady individuals and companies“ including “a businessman accused of links to the Italian mafia, a former judge who resigned due to the vetting process, the daughter of a lawyer accused of forgery, the company of a murdered businessman and individuals linked to one of Albania’s biggest oligarchs..."

All the "trumpiest" of qualifying factors.

You gotta love Ivanka's Adam and Eve description of "discovering" the island, walking barefoot "to the top" presumably to be closer to God. She does not have a clue as to how most of the world lives, or in some cases, hangs on by their fingernails. Their elected blindness to the problems of the world, the fragility of nature, and the will of the people of Albania is astonishing, just mind-blowing. The rich are so oblivious, or pretend to be, to the suffering of the people who are here to serve them.

Barefoot because one chooses to be does not equate to being one of the "regular people".

From my brief reading about Rama, it appears his government is no stranger to controversy relating to charges of cronyism, a lack of accountability and transparency, and misuse of public funds. This brazenly corrupt deal with Kushner should be protested loudly.

Remember also that Trump canceled the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in February, the law that makes it a crime for US citizens to bribe foreign nationals. Which means Jared is now free to legally bribe as many Albanian and Serbian politicians as he chooses. At least as far as US law goes.

Trump couldn't legally end the act. He just signed an order banning investigations into and enforcement of it. Which is essentially the same thing.

"Albania is not for sale." Sadly, the United States appears to not only be for sale, but to have been sold to a cabal of greedy, inhumane criminals.

Not only is this "rendering" of the oligarchs' plan an example of unfettered corruption, it is ALSO A BUTT-UGLY RESORT!!

It's purpose seems to be a brazen, clueless attempt to "prove" that Kushner and his in-laws are actual "real-estate developers". . .which this project negates. It is another grift, people!

The Trump family can't seem to get by without a lot of bribing and corruption. That looks like incompetence. A competent group of businesspeople would have the ability to run projects without collusion and other crimes involved. Other people do it all the time.

Same experience for the Albanian citizens that the many communities throughout the world are facing with Data Center invasion.

Everything they touch is out of corruption!!! I don’t think they are capable of creating something legally!

Thank you for your reporting on this. It’s not surprising unfortunately, but it helps to shine a light on the broad corruption of this administration.

How do people want to live, Ivanka? In a world where there are no trumps (except maybe Mary).
