Major corporations announce opposition to voter suppression bills in Arizona
popular.info
Last November, Biden secured a narrow victory in Arizona, flipping a state that Trump had won four years earlier. Republicans in the Arizona legislature have responded with a flood of bills to restrict voting before the next election. The purpose of these bills is both to validate Trump's false claims of voter fraud and to make it more difficult for Democratic-leaning constituencies, particularly communities of color, to vote in 2022 and beyond. An investigation by Popular Information, encompassing thousands of Arizona campaign finance records filed over the last three years, reveals that the Republican elected officials sponsoring these bills are backed by hundreds of thousands in corporate donations.
Good to know these generous, kind hearted, faithful Christians are still labeling Democrats and other liberals as baby murdering, anti christ people who seek to ‘undermine their Republic’. All sounds a bit extreme to me...makes me wonder how they can still call themselves ‘Christians’. Didn’t there use to be a line that went ‘what would Jesus do?’. I think we can all rest assured that Jesus would have nothing to do with these Christians.
Great work, Judd. Very important work. Thank you. The GOP is panicked and looking at the death of the party, and this spasm of voter suppression is a scream of fear. SO. We must EXPECT even worse to come from the GOP. They are fighting a death battle now, and their encouragement of VIOLENT OVERTHROW of democracy will happen, perhaps as soon as this year. Your superb research and reporting can help stop this. Going through corporate donations is a significant part of stopping the GOP from killing democracy. Thank you
Judd - I am very sad to see USAA on this list. The irony is quite troubling. This organization was founded on behalf of the armed service men & women, many who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the democratic ideals of this country. That USAA could support elected politicians that would undermine the most fundamental democratic right - voting - should not go quietly unnoticed. I hope you could perhaps single out their political contributions supporting similar-minded politicians across every state. As a USAA member I will be contacting the CEO's office.
Great work per usual Judd. You are doing incredible work. Keep putting these corporations in their rightful place as unwavering hypocrites. Say the right thing publicly to appease the masses, and then donate to anti-American hucksters behind the scenes. Absolutely disgusting and I know that more outlets will pick up this wonderful reporting. You are incredible!
It's truly repugnant to see how many companies (e.g. Cox Communications) engage in mere window-dressing on this issue and others. If you're donating to Republican candidates, you're doing it because it benefits you and you don't care about who it hurts, full stop.
You know what would be interesting to learn is who are the biggest anti-democracy corporations on a nationwide basis as these bills proceed through state legislatures. I'm guessing "home team" corporations pale in comparison to the spending of national players. This is the Old School status quo cynical corporate PR crap that needs to be addressed by calling it out and voting with our $$$
I am emailing these companies. I will also look at FB as a way of shining a light on their un-democratic behavior. Thank you, once again, for doing the research for us. We should all hold these companies accountable.
Next thing you know, only land-owning white males over the age of 40 will be allowed to vote.

It's all about the $$ for these companies and they've clearly decided that voter suppression is not a barrier to making more money.

Keep at it Judd. We are with you!

It was shocking to read that an elected legislator was at the Jan 6 capitol insurgency and no one in AZ seems to care.
