Judd, why do you persistently grant Facebook the benefit of this being a “flaw” in their approach? This isn’t a flaw, its deliberate. Intentionally misinforming their audience is a propaganda tactic & it’s working exactly as they want it to. There’s nothing “flawed” in what Facebook is doing, the “flaw” is in viewing it as such & assuming we can shame them into reversing course.

Intentional or not, it's still a flaw. In the context of fact-checking, the issue is that the system guided by algorithms is still faulty, Facebook knows it, and won't fix it. I don't imagine FB is unique in this respect, but it seems to be the worst actor. Additionally, I don't think the point is to shame Zuckerberg and Co. Rather, it's to arm concerned people like us to take action, including but not limited to passing on this information so others become aware of the scope of the problem.

A flaw is defined as ‘having a defect or imperfection’. There is no defect, no imperfection, if the tactic is working as it is intended to.
