How legitimate is a company that supports George Santos as a paid content creator?

Adam's avatar

Why quite legitimate obviously. You mean that you, that you don't... you don't believe HIM? Those huge, luminous eyes so like much those of a lemur grew even wider and more liquid as he blinked once then again before the eventual avalanche of tears began to flow. How could you NOT believe George the voice sputtered. How? Oh how I loath you!

The preceding melodrama will be broadcast. Guess when, place your bet & Win BIG!

It doesn't matter who or what gets destroyed in the insatiable desire for money.

Mark Steinberg's avatar

These are bottom feeders who are a danger to everyone and everything. They prey on human frailty and gullibility for profit.

Every election fraud claim by Republicans describes their own techniques. Well, they should know.

For the love of all that is holy, I am begging someone to regulate these prediction markets.

Tom's avatar

Regulate? Ban

They are inherently open to abuse and fraud

Adam's avatar

Precisely. And they make it realllllll easy to lose all or more than all of your money!

Gambling! We are now rife with gambling on all subjects. It's often an addiction, and has caused harm and misery in many families. There must be a Gamblers Anonymous.

Dan Rather noted support independent journalists because 60 minutes is done.

This report by Judd is why I support him. Let others know what Judd has reported.

Also, I agree with Catherine, Lynn, Joseph and Joe.

Greed is killing our country!

Let's keep money out of elections whether it's from PACs or from betting on results!

These “Game Changer” tech people, both men and women, remind me of stunted high schoolers. All I can think is “If you think pornography has any relation to real life” because this is how laughable their intellect and wisdom is. Their intentions are solely self aggrandizing and their values completely absent.

Katy Bolger's avatar

It seems like these game changers have all been raised by technology and not real people. They can believe what they want or scroll down. They can be amused or revolted by any image, depending on their mood. They can say anything to anybody because they are shielded by technology. In other words, they face no accountability. None. They haven't listened to their own parents since they heard, "Pull up your diaper." And that is how stunted they are. These markets are built on nothing but misery and will collapse onto themselves.

David Dimston's avatar

They were raised by helicopter parents who led them to believe that everything they do or say is true and of consequence. Meanwhile the rest of us have silently scream “Shut Up”

Maggie Bennett's avatar

Yes!! Maybe we need to scream it out loud more often!!

Hmm - I'm feeling sad here. (and righteous anger seems appropriate - but not helpful). I'm sad for my country - absolutely. I'm also sad for these young folks gambling (know it's not only the young) - I'm old - not influential. Sure, I'll keep protesting and standing with signs, try to keep in know, vote - but I will also keep engaging each person I meet in my ordinary day - especially the young, with interest and friendliness. I will try to have compassion for all humans. It's all I can think to do.

These right wing influencers are so miffed by a brown skinned WOMAN pulling out ahead of a blonde white MAN, they are practically swallowing their own tongues. Not a bad idea, choke on it Benny and all the rest of you boys. Keep it up and you will get what you want: Nazi Germany.

It should not be that hard to believe that Angelenos don't want another reality show contestant turned politician to be in charge of anything.

This wagering against ANYTHING, on YOUR PHONE OR IPAD is so wrong. These companies are flourishing with the support of Trump, his miserable offspring and of course Jared. The brains behind these ventures are usually found men who are hoping to become rich. Doesn’t matter at what cost. What a disaster we’ll be leaving for future generations. And we wonder why there is so much anxiety and depression in teens and young adults. It’s truly immoral and should be illegal. 🤯

Jim Carmichael's avatar

Shill, lying, and a public too addicted to gambling to resist! Ultimately, this is a condemnation for the state of at least part of our culture.

So, Polymarket pays Twitter (I don't call it that letter) to boost posts that link to it?

How many ways can Twitter game the algorithm before people finally leave?

(Yes, it's rhetorical, I understand the network effect lockin)

Linda Slater's avatar

I left twitter years ago. I never gleaned much worthwhile information there. Mostly just immature posturing and rudeness.

Ebay is a way to connect buyers and sellers like newspaper want ads did on a smaller scale. The prediction markets are a way for con men to connect with their "marks", and crypto is just a new form of counterfeit money. Commerce and crime are adapting to modern technologies.

Kathy Koblik's avatar

Thanks - not something I would ever know about otherwise.

Prediction markets seem an invitation to scamming (and look how they cause actors to bend reality...bad things happen which wouldn't otherwise). Obviously some people are making lots of money and some people are getting into debt. Is there any way they will be sensibly regulated or abolished?

Excellent reporting!

Polymarket's rise isn't signaling civilizational advance, is it?
