This is how techno-fascism actually works: Ellison buys TikTok, Zuckerberg deletes ICE tracking groups, Apple and Google remove resistance apps on DOJ command.

Not state control of tech…tech As the state.

Iran shut down the internet during their massacre.

America just outsourced censorship to billionaires who sat behind Trump at inauguration.

The infrastructure isn’t just ICE agents…it’s Palantir tracking deportation targets, Meta blocking evidence preservation, Apple preventing community defense. Silicon Valley isn’t resisting authoritarianism. They’re building the digital architecture that makes it scalable.

Argentina’s dictatorship needed physical files and informants. This regime has real-time geolocation, facial recognition, and social media companies that delete 80,000-person organizing groups at Bondi’s request.

When protesters can’t coordinate, can’t warn each other, can’t document abuses, can’t preserve evidence, the paramilitary force operates in darkness. That’s not a bug. That’s the business model.

Money and power over ethics—-as if we didn’t know that was their raison d’être all along.

Quick follow-up for better understanding:

The tech censorship goes deeper than platforms. Palantir integrates social media data, location tracking, financial records, and facial recognition into a unified deportation infrastructure. Switching apps doesn’t help when the surveillance is omnidirectional.

Signal and ProtonMail offer encrypted coordination—-Switzerland-based, harder to compromise. But network effects matter: 3 billion people on Facebook, 40 million on Signal. You can build censorship-resistant platforms. You can’t force mass adoption.

The real lesson from Argentina: the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo didn’t need encrypted apps. They had physical presence, moral clarity, and international attention. When digital infrastructure is captured, you organize around it, not through it.

Minneapolis succeeded not because protesters found the perfect platform, but because they made the operation too expensive to continue. That’s always how it works.

I’m pulling this into World Ahead 2026 Part 4, how AI integration accelerates authoritarian infrastructure beyond what was possible even five years ago. The technology isn’t neutral. It’s purpose-built for this.

Yeah, if anyone is still holding onto the idea of the tech sphere as a bastion of liberalism, they should quickly dispel that notion. Silicon Valley isn't our ally.

Zoe's avatar

Silicone Valley is an integral part of the regime.

Necessity is the mother of invention! Likely the reason behind the Cook’s, Zuckerberg’s, Theil, Ellison’s… exist today. Based on this article seems like billionaire tech giants capitulating to DJT & his lackeys are creating a gap & opportunity in that tech space.

People way smarter than them and with a moral compass are out there!

Thanks PI team for this insight.

They are NOT capitulating; they ARE the Technofascists. The RNC is run by fascist billionaires; ALL Repugs are their puppets. The RNC is an organized crime syndicate and these fascists intend to take everything…Their data centers will never fully materialize because the US lacks the water, energy and minerals needed to build them. But these megalomaniacs refuse to listen to other sectors and don’t believe their pipe dreams of world domination with end with resources… Read The Shock Doctrine.

Speak the truth, brother (sister?). Everyday someone excuses something horrible one of these billionaires technobro fascists Nazis has done and everyday democracy has been chipped away, not strengthened, by social media platforms. I love the Constitution and the Bill of Rights but these guys were never wrapped up in it. They are wrapped in corporate law which very few congresspeople are smart enough to understand and don't have time to have it explained to them. A confederacy of dunces and fools and now, white supremacists, are running this country.

Katy Bolger's avatar

See I never thought social media was anything they touted in the beginning. I felt that if everyone had a voice things were going to get loud, untruthful and just gross. Like when reality TV began and I said I wouldn't want these people physically in my house, why bring them in electronically. That's how I felt about social media. Superiority complex? Yeah, well...

BTAM Master's avatar

But if it weren't for social media, we wouldn't know the truth about Renée Good and Alex Pretti. I always felt social media would be our downfall...who knew it might be our salvation?

Adam's avatar

Yes! When "Big Brother" first became available I thought "Big Brother?" "Reality TV?" Wtf? Like you, I wouldn't want all those idiots in MY house!

Robyn Boyer's avatar

This is really, really scary. Maybe these apps should be made available on independent media like Substack? There's got to be a way to end run the social media Trump toadies. I hope Joshua Aaron's lawsuit is successful. Pam Bondi is evil.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Scary, yes, but it doesn't take a weatherman to tell you which way the wind is blowing, does it?

Robyn Boyer's avatar

No, it does not. I'm just waiting for some coder to come up with an alternative app and a means to make it available to everyone. F*ck the social media oligarchs.

Katy Bolger's avatar

TikTok is owned by a fascist, X is owned by a Nazi, FB/Insta are owned by an oligarch pig. I wonder if there is something in that rarefied air that causes these MEN to be so horrible and cruel? May need a weatherman to explain how the mano/stratosphere works.

I think they are breathing money. Kind of gets in the lungs, makes for lots of coughing. You know, like when you bend down and kiss an autocrats ass.

Zuckerberg is such a twat.

That is chiseled in stone.

Collaborators end up being held to account when the war is over, or do Tim Cook and Sergey Brin and Mark Zuckerberg think that truth will not apply to them? When Trump is gone we, the people, will demand that all of the enablers be held to account no matter how many billions they have in the bank.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Ya think, Peter? Why wait until Twump is gone and Commander Judy Vance puts on his make up and goes online for his Daily Two-Minutes of Hate which is required by all white Americans to stop and view. This is a problem of regulation. Human beings cannot be trusted - apparently no human being ever - to do the right thing. Should you and I decide to do the right thing, like say Jesus or MLK did, we will be removed quickly, like many mouths before us.

Peter's avatar

JD Vance will never be president unless Trump dies in office. Everyone but Peter Thiel hates him, even the MAGAs, that's why he working so hard to out MAGA Trump.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Never say never, I have learned. I cannot believe that Twump will rot away as president for the next three years. I believe he will die, or become obviously incapacitated (more so than we see plainly has happened already). We could have a Weekend at Bernies situation for a few days if he dies in bed and Stephen the Miller needs his signature on some things before they announce his demise. K-K-Karoline Leavit is such a good liar. who can tell? They could prop him in the chair at the resolute desk and pretend he is taking his afternoon shut-eye. I mean he already stinks so how bad could it get?

Peter's avatar

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead...

Katy Bolger's avatar

Well what the f did you think was going to happen with social media? It is a cesspool with some funny clips floating by. What did anyone think when Fuckface Nazi Musk acquired X? And did anyone think about that when he was running DOGE? How many of YOU quit the app? And Mark Zuckerberg is so far up the ass of the devil he has taken residence. And Ellison/Oracle? We have watched our rights eroded over the past year and you thought social media was safe. RUN!!

I have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation because I can't breathe and when I do it's a scream.

Surely there will be a reckoning.

The important thing is to remember that they don't serve Trump, they serve money.

The Jimmy Kimmel dismissal lasted only until they realised they would lose a little bit of money. Then, their service to the dark orange lord evaporated in hours.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Assuredly there is a reckoning coming. One can only imagine it. But it is coming, stay awake and stay strong.

There was once My Space that was replaced by Facebook. As the enshitification of Facebook progresses a replacement or at least a competitor is needed. This also applies to Google, Amazon, and Apple.

Dr Bob's avatar

The corporate/politic management of most all social media is exactly why I moved over to Mastodon as a Twitter/X replacement. Pixelfet as an Instagram substitute and Signal in lieu of the ubiquitous WhatsApp.

Between the algorithms, advertising and underlying manipulation of posts, it was all just too much for me. Very happy on Mastodon and Pixelfed. Give them a try!

PS: Substack is doing a pretty good job of enshitification, in case you haven't noticed.

Paul Krugman has written that the United States might be about to experience its own color revolution, such as Ukraine did to rid it of the Soviet-style corruption and authoritarianism. But the American people will face the additional challenge of the tech industry.

Help us, someone

We will need to break up and prosecute these companies and their executives. They are traitors to the country and deserve a traitor's reward.
