Texas already has the most restrictive voting laws in the country. But with the state trending blue, Governor Greg Abbott (R) and Republicans in the Texas legislature are pushing a series of draconian bills that would make it even harder for Texans to cast a ballot. An investigation by Popular Information reveals that the elected officials in Texas advocating for these voter suppression measures are backed by millions from corporations that purport to support voting rights.
I'm continually thankful we have you keeping tabs on these corporations, Judd, but damn if it isn't daunting seeing a wall of donations from some of the biggest names in the corporate landscape.
Good. Keeping these donations in the public eye is important. Thank you, Judd. Congress needs pressure to can these and reform campaign finance laws. Write your Representatives and Senators. Let them know to paraphrase Capitol One, "We know what's in your wallet."
I appreciate your efforts in this direction. Keep up the good work. But how about we flip this on its head. Since we all know - both right and left - that most politicians are corporate shills at this point, why not directly dox these corporations with ads, coalitions of boycotts, etc. The corporations don't care about shame, they care about profits. Politicians are just their errand girls and boys. Support candidates that support campaign finance reform, and companies that will support it.
Keep it up Judd! I would like it if you also mentioned how much they are donating to democrats as well. Since all of these corporations love to talk about how they donate to both sides, let's see what they've donated to democrats in the past. They only care about their optics. As soon as you let off the pressure, they will go straight back to donating to right-winged politicians and organizations that push for the exact opposite of what these corporations claim to stand for. They are maniacal hypocrites through and through.
Thank you for taking on this monumental task that really needs to be done! How else will people know who is promoting what can damage our system of government? We know about the billious billionaire conglomerate of the Koch Industries. We know about the NRA. Thank you for adding to this exposure of dark and greedy corporate forces that some play just as a game while all that has made our country such an extraordinary experiment faces destruction. Bringing the light of truth in the powerful and exacting way that you do can prevail against all that is wrong and cruel. We cannot give up, we cannot become dis-heartened. Both courage and love come from the heart. We appreciate you and your team!
one more thing-- The Daily reporter pointed out that this republican voter shenanigans could backfire if it so energizes voter rights advocates to fight back. This should be anyone who wants their vote to count. Georgia is going to be a major testing ground for this thesis-- because Warnock is soon up for re-election. These bills are about holding on to power not fixing the voting system
Your continued vigilance on this issue is very appreciated. It seems to me that these companies are sticking together and refusing to back down against public pressure. Is it their advertising dollars keeping this out of mainstream newspapers?

Same shit(or worse), different state. Let’s have a race to see which of us can be the absolute worst as far as making Democracy a laughingstock.

Excellent work, again, Judd. Thank you. Your reports are so disheartening, though. I just cannot comment more today 😢

Too bad there isn’t a law against corporate hypocrites because all of these would be found GUILTY!

Listen to the Daily on the roll out of voter suppression bills across the states. One way to fight back is to name and shame corporations. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/30/podcasts/the-daily/voting-rights-georgia.html?action=click&module=audio-series-bar®ion=header&pgtype=Article
