President Trump and the election conspiracy theorists he surrounds himself with are determined to exclude people from voting in the 2026 election based on one database: the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE).
The word "optimized" in DHS's description of DOGE's handling of the SAVE database is doing an awful lot of work. Judging by the error rate, there's nothing optimal about it.
Greg Palast has done GOP voter purge reporting for the Guardian, where he analyzed Red state voter roll updates, and how they would end up purging something like 90% Democrat to 10% Republican voters. The officials would flag common Latino surnames like Garcia; and if a separate list of convicted felons, had an "Andrew Jesus Garcia," for example, all voters of that name would be purged from the voter rolls, irregardless of differences in the social security numbers. They used the same approach with African-American surnames like Washington. Some Red states would pool their data, so all voters named "Andrew Jesus Garcia" would get purged across multiple states.
The point here, is that GOP want to prevent Democrats from voting. By hook or by crook.
Ultimately this is about a national registry and any national registry historically from Caeser to Hitler are about who’s in and who’s out and the justified cruelty that follows. I no longer trust my government lead by a Queens real estate mob boss sundowning as President and his self empretzeling sycophants to use my information wisely for my good and the good of all who live here. A commentator on another substack I follow commented that if it’s possible to follow a head of lettuce from farm to table, it should be just as easy to have a national registry for citizenship that begins at birth. Comparing children to a head of lettuce. This is heinous and sick. Planning is hard, chaos is easy. This administration uses it to its advantage.
As usual, I have to ask....what is this really about? It's obviously NOT about unregistered, or even illegal immigrants voting. There is NO chance that 21000 suspicious entries spread out over 24 states will effect any election outcome. And further, we have no idea if ANY of those 'people' actually tried to cast a ballot. People move around, so how will this database even be kept up to date? It's ridiculous to think this is about elections.
Is it for establishing a national registrar? I hate that idea, but who/what would that benefit?

The SAVE database is a joke and duplicate effort. The SSA has citizenship status by SSN. When you naturalize, they update your data. Minnesota, when you register, uses name and last 4 of SSN to verify you against the SSA data. I don’t understand why more states don’t do this.
