Total parallel with Manchin in the Senate. The Dem leadership prefers to protect an incumbent for the sake of politics, rather than take a firm position on policy. Disappointing.

Thank you for this particular article. As a progressive Texan (yes there are some of those left) Cuellar is a damn embarrassment, and the actions of “mainstream Democrats” pisses me off. If this fool Cuellar gets re-elected, I fully expect him to change parties.

I’ve been contributing to Cisneros - hope she pulls off a big win! And I’m canceling my cellular service with ATT as soon as my contract ends 😊

I honestly believe these new PACS are Republicans disguising themselves as mainstream Democrats.

I’ve read about a handful of candidates who are historically Republicans but suddenly registering as & switching to Dem party under “mainstream” umbrella yet their ideas still mimic Repubs.

Unfortunately, many voters are not aware of this & will “vote blue no matter who” without realizing or checking on the details & the candidates are counting on that.

As for Pelosi & other ingrained Dem leaders, this kind of shit is why we need fresh leadership who will not blanket support incumbents. They are primarily interested in getting re-elected, it seems. Not to be crude but by natural life cycle, some of these sept & octogenarians won’t be around to live through the destruction they are creating or allowing. Why do they get to decide a future they won’t have to live in? Time to vote differently!

It's disappointing that, presumably, the DCCC and, worse, Speaker Pelosi are in support of Cuellar- particularly for his anti-abortion position. The "big-tent" argument made by Clyburn is weak and unhelpful. Endorsing people who damage the party, big-tent or not, is not forward-thinking or encouraging to younger voters. Party members like Cuellar, Manchin, Sinema do so much harm.

I just checked on the race between Cisneros and cuellar—still too close to call with over 95% of votes in. I donated the little I can to Cisneros’ campaign though I’m from Florida. Isn’t Cuellar under investigation for something? That sort of thing doesn’t seem to matter. The most recent terrorist attack on schoolchildren in Texas should have voters looking at politicians accepting donations from the NRA, but that doesn’t seem to matter either. What a country.

I'm sorry to say that I feel so sick about this information, that I can't process it in a way that makes any sense. Jim Clyburn! Nancy Pelosi! From these reports, they are both behaving like traitors to all that we progressive, humanitarian voters stand for. Of course, Senators Warren and Sanders are alert to all of these machinations. But, thank you for reporting all of this, Judd, and your wonderful women assistants.

Priority 1 is keeping the House. Based on her comments, Pelosi is not pushing Cuellar, and Clyburn’s comment about having a big tent for differing opinions could just as easily apply to welcoming Cisneros. I haven’t heard anything Hoyer has said either way. I think they are riding a fence to see what TX voters do today and then they will get behind that candidate.
