Aww greed... one of the seven deadly sins. Bezos the player of both sides of the field. Walmart, Kroger, CVS. I avoid all three as much as possible.
I get my friend her click list at Kroger as it is her preference, not mine. You likely don't know that as policy, Kroger does not allow the customer to tip those poor kids that bring out our groceries to the car trunk. I was told by the min. wage earner teen they have a camera on the parking area and they could be fired. He also told me the manager had taken tips from them.
Aww the corporate 1%.Aww the 1%.The rich get richer on the backs of the rest of us.
Thanks Popular Information. Happy Thanksgiving to you and to my fellow subscribers!

FWIW, Kroger IS a union shop, with workers represented by the UFCW. Those Clicklist/Pickup employees aren't minimum wage; they aren't making a living wage, but they're being paid at least a dollar more than minimum. (No, I'm not a Kroger employee.)
The union dues according to my son who worked in one of the most profitable Kroger stores in this region during college took away any benefit he received from a little bit more. And the week he had the flu he actually got no pay due to the union dues.
just a note, it can be a bit misleading when articles only use % or "hard numbers", to get the best info you really have to use both, for instance, how much did the companies actual payroll increase due to the "2%" raise, that is in % and $$; same for sales etc. Without that comparison, one can not really draw a solid conclusion. regardless, thanks for your informative newsletter
Judd, I don't know if it's timely or appropriate to share this article on Facebook but I'm tempted...it's my birthday and I've read so many beautiful wishes from friends that I hate to introduce negativity - timing is everything! :-) But this is something that shoujld be on the front page of the NYT. How do we pressure these companies to do better??? !! Thank you! XO

Big brother thy name is Kroger
Actually, Kroger does have a place when ordering pickup to place a Tip. I just give cash.
No, not here
Sad. People as means and not ends.

A double edge sword.
I mean, this is just capitalism in a nutshell, isn't it?
BTW, wanted to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to Popular Information and its readers. Be merry and safe.
What can we do to support these hard working high risk employees?? How can we pressure their employers to pay them properly? I WANT TO DO SOMETHING!
Me too, Leslie! This should be on the front page of the NYTimes!

So much for corporate "good citizenship".
There MUST be some stories of companies that have genuinely taken care of their employees. I would love to hear some of those.
