That Keul already has received an anonymous threat since the publication of the report tells you all you need to know about why she wasn't more forthcoming about her allegation of rape against Trump. Our society regularly downplays evidence of sexual assault and rape and protects men accused of wrongdoing. The press, supposed bastion of factual information, isn't above the practice.

If my recent research is not mistaken, Trump's (and GOP/MAGA) BLM rally miscalculations in 2020 so scared Trump that it seems that fear of pushback from Black America has prevented Trump from saying "The Blacks love me!", perhaps for several years now.

That also sounds a bit like news to me, but apparently I stand alone on that.

Such fear of Black parents protecting their sons, being NON-transactional in nature ("true believers") was a shock to Trump. Enough shock to scare him into a rare (if not previously unknown) instance of "oral" discipline.

I think People magazine did cover the rape allegation and did so with a great headline for the article:

Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul Alleges Donald Trump Raped Her at the Plaza Hotel in 1993.

Correct. On 10/26/26

I don’t see how a thinking person can believe Trump is not a rapist. I can only conclude, at least in the U.S. rape is not a deal breaker.

Makes you sick, doesn't it? What is also sick is women who vote republican, ignoring the fact that they or their daughters are fodder for disgusting men like trump.

Suki Herr's avatar

Another dirty secret of Republican women. They require abortion care.

A lot of people have the privilege of thinking it's not their concern. It's an interesting phenomenon, but we've seen so much of this. If it doesn't affect, me, I can tune it out. Look at the farmers and Latinos who voted for Trump.

On the same day the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee released the report about Trumps sexual abuse of young women the “Injustice” Department announced they were charging James Comey with yet another crime. And what did the mainstream media report? Yeah, all about Comey but not a word about Trump or the Epstein files.

I seldom watch the evening “news” anymore but was really curious if the main-stream media (ABC, CBS, CNN or NBC) would even mention the release of the Epstein files. I only have one TV and only watched one network, so I don’t know if others carried the story but NBC didn’t even mention it. They spent a lot of time telling their viewers that James Comey is being charged for the third time but not a single word about Trumps association with Epstein or the sexual abuse he is alleged to have inflicted on minors. Nothing, not one word.

They had plenty of time during the 30-minute broadcast to tell their viewers about a thief that swallowed diamond earrings – last year! – and about a 3-year-old soccer player in Florida that was so talented the opposing parents called the police, and about a former NFL player that was arrested because he got into a fight in a parking lot, but not a single word about Trump and Epstein. I found that irresponsible.

The Founders understood the power of the “free press” and the importance having an informed public would play in maintaining our democracy. Unfortunately, the main-stream media has failed to live up to their responsibility.

For the record, I do not consider FOX “Not-Really-News” to be part of the main-stream-media as they have been the primary source of half-truths, misinformation, outright lies and propaganda since October 1996. Rupert Murdoch is the mastermind behind the dumbing down of America and the demise of our democracy.

When Access Hollywood had no impact on Trump I think the corporate media simply gave up. The man had a reputation going back decades as a serial rapist/sexual abuser as well as a serial conman, mafia tool and bully. And none of it mattered to the corporate media, a media desperate for a politician who would be entertaining, provide easy clicks and headlines and fill the pages with content, albeit mostly lies, without effort. And here we are, a country run by a now physically and mentally deteriorating old rapist surrounded by incompetents and enablers, on the brink of fascism. Thank NYT, WaPo, ABC,CBS, and NBC. Are you happy now?

Kim's avatar

AH was the beginning of the end for me with respect to Trump voters, those that I knew. They voted against me, and all women's safety and validity in this world. Jan. 6 was the final piece. It's not politics, it's about decency.

This is where we are: The president of the United States is credibly accused of rape, and it isn't even news.

Katy Bolger's avatar

This is one of those horrible things where you have to imagine if it was the publisher's daughter in the hotel room with the rapist, now president, would the publisher find column inches to report this news? Even if they were told it's old news, not news, lies? When the report comes from Congress, does not that alone make it newsworthy? What has gone wrong with this country? The rapist-in-chief needs to go, go now, go away, go forever. Where is our hero?

BJB's avatar

it isnt a new allegation, just finally getting press. the katie johnson lawsuits have not gotten much press either, despite the very specific allegations. as trump told MTG, dont releaset he epstein files bc my friends will be hurt. its those friends who seem to be powerful enought to prevent the coverage.

How hard can it possibly be to convict a creature whose views on fatherhood were fully on display on The View in 2006, sitting with his daughter, Ivanka.

The only thing I can identify to show how Trump sees his relationship with his oldest daughter is that he prefers that the world see her as a rich, young, attractive celebrity, perhaps so that when he announced his desire to have sex with his own daughter, it wouldn't seem so "off kilter".

Perhaps that's the question to ask in any investigation: "What does fatherhood mean to Donald J. Trump?"

But none of it EVER seems to matter. (I've been in plenty of mens' locker rooms (being one), but I've never heard such talk as on the Access Hollywood tape.)

No one will ever convince me that he wasn't abusing her. If not for the pictures of the two of them in totally inappropriate poses, then her destructive victimhood as an adult.

foofaraw & Chiquita(ARF!)'s avatar

Absolutely, Peter.

And if by some small chance he wasn't actually acting "unfatherly", he clearly wanted people to think he was. (Epstein maybe?)

Lesley's avatar

This seems entirely believable to me:

“Overall, Brown suggests the report could indicate that Trump and Epstein were “engaged in an intrasexual competition.”

Thank you for writing this piece. The silence was deafening. The poor woman, to live with that and not feel able to report a vicious crime against her. And a reminder why I, as a 66 y.o., always felt these crimes and assaults against women were not on a level with other crimes, as in, not important. So much male behavior I chalked up to boys being boys, men being men, even though at the same time I felt something was wrong deep inside, and felt anger. But there wasn't the language, the culture, the understanding from the female perspective. And I already felt...less than...in a subconcious way. It feels hard to explain, and hard to understand, but if you're a woman, you know.

All anyone needs to do about those who will say “Why did she take so long” is to remind everyone about all the men who were sexually assaulted by priests or in juvenile detention. It can take decades for someone to realize and accept what happened and then get over the deep sense of shame and guilt. I recall reading an article years ago where a victim of rape said it stole her future. That this president is a rapist there can be no doubt. What I can’t stomach are his servants (his cabinet as a start). Is there nothing they won’t stomach for an extra $10 million? These men and women are worth hundreds of millions? These are gluttonous people.

Lesley's avatar

It’s also why there should never be a statute of limitations for rape and sexual assault. We need to change our laws.

Jim (Bombguy24)'s avatar

Yet another, in a growing list of examples, of why we need to rethink our media coverage of important news such as this. This is important news, not just because it involves Trump/Epstein, but because the abuse of women is seemingly an accepted part of our culture. If we are going to change that culture, we need to expose it and condemn it - including applying real consequences.

It is wild how an important story is not reported, much of the media is condoning this behavior by their choices to not cover it

Corporate control of media. Oligarchs control of media. Ergo the

new America. The USA has laws to prevent this but just stopped decades ago, in the name of profits, enforcing them.

Pamela Jolley's avatar

Maybe this article will make the major networks “do the walk of shame,” by covering the story finally, admittedly belatedly. They sure have not been the press we once thought they were.
