In 2006, these kinds of political litmus tests were scandalous. 20 years later, in the Trump era, in which there's some sort of calamity or wrongdoing seemingly daily, I doubt that this will make waves on the national stage. It still should be covered and amplified, mind you, but it shows how far the media landscape has fallen.

Yes. It all smells...like fascism. Loyalty over competence.

And don't worry, Joseph, FOX News viewers will never hear a peep about Judd's latest scoop.

Department of Labor secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer is "under scrutiny" for her actions or, rather, inactions as labor secretary. She is a sham, she has fired enough people from the DOL to be scandalous and she is running the department into the ground. This "payoff" position as a summer intern, guaranteeing work in the department after graduation is another way of putting these magats into the government without working for it and certainly with their biases intact. Very sorry for the workers of America.

I suppose a high GPA would interfere greatly with the political alignment of today's GOP.

The silver lining here is that Liberty Law is not even a fifth rate law school and its students and graduates are the definition of incompetent religious fanatic losers.

Which means they are churning out more attorneys who will lose more cases.

"Payoff"----freudian slip. "Liberty" U, ironic satire

Illegally hiring lawyers: Delicious!

Holy Cow. This administration hiring interns in an illegal manner? No way. Yes way.

Meritocracy, schmeritocracy.

Say it: Jerry Falwell Jr. is a CUCKOLD & was discovered encouraging the pool boy to take his sexual place in the bedroom. Liberty University’s finest.

I had flashbacks to George Costanza interviewing candidates for the Susan Ross Scholarship.

The world is forced by the US to see the US as she really is but does she (the US) have a mirror?

Thank you, Judd, for bringing this to light. I hope the story is picked up by more writers.

What will be left of our country?

A totally irrelevant, "has been" nation that has been so thoroughly bankrupted by Trump's unlimited spending without any Congressional appropriations or actual book keeping that we'll have to give up supporting our over seas military bases leaving the troops stranded there and having to find their own way home (if they even choose to do so).

Trump may be getting rich being President, but the finances of the US are completely in the toilet, all carefully hidden because the Trumpers fired everyone who was keeping track of such things. No one even knows how bankrupt we are (most of the money going to Trump and his pet projects and policies).

This is disgusting!!! Pure Fascism!!!! We can’t let that be what becomes of our once wonderful country!!!!! Plus we need intelligent people in government, not the clown show it is now !!!

Boy, they’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Bitter dregs, indeed.

Ann Sharon's avatar

Maybe there’s a glimmer of light - or sweetness to it. Bottom of the barrel attorneys lose lots of cases. I think we’re seeing some of that as this administration has not only lost case after case in court but also lost it’s credibility (presumption of regular order). IOW, bad law and no longer presumed to be presenting the truth.

Mark H. Jones's avatar

Maybe. But they don’t necessarily need good lawyers. Mediocre ones are much more easily and cheaply bought. Besides, our courts are stacked with any number MAGA Friendly judges, and clearly Pope Alito the Unctuous is more than willing to grant any number of indulgences for His Majesty.

I’m not trying to nay say you; in fact, I hope I’m wrong. There are good lawyers and judges out there. But the level of corruption in this administration … gyaaah.

Ann Sharon's avatar

And I am not trying to be Pollyanna. I think the main point of this administration is revenge, his ‘legacy’ & corruption. OTOH, I see them struggling. They are running out of attorneys & unable to deliver on Donnie’s wishlist. Thousands of fed attorneys and staff have left. When judges didn’t cooperate they tried going to grand juries. Now they have the worst record ever on GRs not indicting & try to keep it quiet to avoid bad p/r.

I know he’s won or partially won most of the time when he gets to SCOTUS. (Thomas is a bad as Alito). But after losing on having NGs in cities they slowed their roll on going to SCOTUS. Then lost pending tariff case. (He wants to appeal or get a review elsewhere. 🙃)

The surest way to lose a SCOTUS case is to insult the court with a mediocre attorney. SCOTUS would make mincemeat of one of them. The interns are safe. Not just any guy who owns a suit can present a case. SCOTUS has its own BAR and requirements.

Lower courts have called out DOJ for crappy case filings, missed deadlines, not being able to answer judges’ questions, court orders not being followed, unreliable ‘facts’ & witnesses lying (Bovino for one). It is nerdy but really important that DOJ’s lost credibility in courts. It means prosecutors don’t have the upper hand. DOJ lost on Comey’s case & a bunch of others. They aren’t even getting enough evidence to go to court - or a grand jury. (Biden auto-pen ‘crimes’ elude them.)
