The January 6 siege of the United States Capitol was not an isolated incident. It is the latest in a series of attacks by violent extremists seeking to undermine federal and state governments. Now, a new organization called "People's Rights" seeks to bring more sophistication and efficiency to these anti-government efforts. And it is already having considerable success.
This is terrifying. I knew Bundy was still out there trying to control Federal Lands like a personal fiefdom but no idea he had expanded his power and influence to this extent.
The US congress needs to pass domestic terrorism laws. This is a terrifying trend for America which I believe was fueled by Trump. He supported these groups: pardoned violent extremists, pardoned military murderers, amplified conspiracy theorists. Every group took these actions as a tacit nod of support.
The degenerates have been giving a green light & think force & violence will yield results. This is all going to culminate in a blood bath if this nation doesn’t call these groups what they are - TERRORISTS - & deal with them accordingly.
These names - People Rights, Proud Boys, etc- are no different in behavior, goals & actions or desired actions than Taliban, ISIS, etc.
They have the same gripes & goals, even if for different Gods & Religions. Guns, bombs, extremist views, territory, hate of govt & certain groups, love of violence & bullying & similar recruitment techniques.
They are every where. Our militia that formed last Feb sent folks to Jan. 6. He is one of many, he just has more practice. It was lost on America due to lack of reporting for instance, 4 million gun purchase checks were run in May 2020 according to a report that came from the FBI. Go to WalMart and buy Ammo. They are often out, so there's that. Who you thinks buying all this stuff.

Flyover country indeed. The future is coming: territories will be run by various militias. We become a country of urban areas surrounded by rural lands run by various warlords who spend time killing each other when they're not attacking their bogeyman, the federal government. Not exactly utopia.
Democrats have avoided meeting right wing terrorism head on for decades. They may not have created them, but their reluctance to deal with them "because it might inflame them" has allowed the Bundys of America to become emboldened to a point that our country now faces a its most serious threat from within since before the Civil War.
There has never been a great time to take on these right wing radicals. Violent reactions have always been expected. Manufactured outrage by Republicans has always been a given. The only difference now is that the reactions are likely to be worse than if action had been taken years ago when right wing terrorists stated they'd kill federal agents if they didn't back off from the standoff at Bundy's father's ranch in 2014.
We can't ignore this threat any longer. Addressing it now will likely trigger more violent reactions than it would have 10 years ago, but continuing to ignore it will only result in an even more violent reaction if we continue to do little and hope it goes away by itself.
