As long as we fail to understand that GREED IS A MENTAL ILLNESS, the rape of the planet will never end.

GREED is truly the most terrible challenge of our times, and capitalism is its tool, its means to power and more greed.

Greed is a (contagious) mental illness, an unfillable hole, a hunger that denies justice, a brutal expression of broken egos.

Greed is having a million times as much as the poor and still feeling you don't have enough.

Greed consumes the earth without respite, and is a cancer on humanity.

Greed destroys us and our children and their future.

Greed is death.

Hoping that Sullivan goes down to defeat, and wondering if Alaska MIGHT be turning "purple". Once can only hope.

Sullivan is desperate -- the latest local ads claim Al Gross lived in CALIFORNIA (aka devil-land) and every non-republican policy is SOCIALISM. Emphasis is in the commercials. Al Gross is an Alaskan - as were his parents - so mention of living elsewhere at some point in his life is weak sauce indeed. Sullivan and our Governor, Dunleavy, are imports and make me wonder if it was deliberate (I try to stay away from conspiracy thinking, but these are odd days...)

The latest polls showing a tie between Sullivan and Gross is shocking. If Alaska is going to elect a Democrat this is the race.

I live in Alaska and voted against Pebble Mine as there are numerous mining opportunities throughout Alaska. There is no need to risk a one-of-a-kind environment. Mines historically simply declare bankruptcy and clear out leaving an environmental mess - any promise/plan of mitigation is worthless and unenforceable.

Keep up the good work Judd, everything I have any knowledge of has been spot on and fairly presented.

Another great article! I hope this gets wide readership in Alaska. They are very Republican up there. Please distribute throughout that state.

I didn't even know who Dan Sullivan was before this post, but he's added to the list of people I hope meets the end of his congressional career next month.

Excellent reporting!! It is depressing to see ANOTHER example of Republican greed and total disregard for future generations. Why let another mining corporation rape and destroy the land till the mine is tapped out, then declare bankruptcy so the taxpayers clean up the mess. This is just another future superfund cleanup site waiting to happen. The Alaskan people will lose an irreplaceable resource and will get a multibillion dollar cleanup tab for their trouble.

I just watched a Lincoln Project ad about this very subject. Don’t know if you were instrumental in that happening or not but its an interesting coincidence of this and that.

Wouldn't that be Southeastern Alaska?
