DeSantis minions openly discussed how his previous demolition of democracy to remove a prosecutor generated $2.4 million in earned media. The man who most certainly wrote or organized Worrell’s suspension is James Uthmeier (likely with Larry Keefe) who just left the official Governor’s chief of staff role to become his presidential primary campaign manager.

Do the math.

That is excellent information and fills in some gaps for everyone in this forum. Thank you Grant.

Is it just me but doesn't Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd look like the guy that central casting sent to the movie set when they needed a redneck racist sheriff?

Expand full comment

I’d like to know why having the Polk County sheriff at the podium is at all relevant for a district that covers Orange and Osceola counties? And just an aside, Grady Judd is despicable (probably why he’s there).

Worrell obviously needs to sue immediately in state court. She has more than enough evidence on her side to show that she has been an effective prosecutor. She also has more than enough evidence that DuhSantis is pulling this shit because she is a black female Democrat.

And when she wins the case, or wins re-election she should make her district unsafe for DeSantis and his supporters finding reasons to arrest and prosecute them for any violation down to and including littering.

You are so right! Worrell must act immediately. The clown who sits in the governor's chair needs to be held accountable. His antics are despicable--and dangerous.

It is part f his march to replace anyone not on board with his agenda. No independence allowed; not by universities or by officials elected by 60% of the vote. (Jealousy?) Free free media attention he believes will appeal to the GOP primary voters as he “fights the woke”. I saw reporting that his donors including a couple billionaires have bailed. DEantis needs attention to be anywhere except how FL is now the most expensive state to live in; has the highest inflation of any state; and is losing insurance companies hand over fist even as rates pole vault higher year after year. Those are not winning talking points.

I would not put it past him to continue this after he loses the primary and try to wrangle a promise of being in a maga WH.

And whether we like that undocumented people live in the U.S., many pick crops-- but have left Florida for places who NEED their crops picked and don't quibble over the color of the people's skin, or their legal status in order to have FOOD.

F... DeSantis.

[Personally I believe we must welcome people willing to do jobs no one is lining up to do.]

Ron DeSantis is a dangerous, brutal dictator and would be a nightmare if he became president.

I hope that enough intelligent/motivated folken see the dark path that is open before us, take heed and do what's necessary to counter the anti-American forces right here at home, who would use servants like desantis, trump or any number of lesser demons (jim jordan, empty greene, mccarthy, tim scott come to mind) to make indentured peasants of us all, for personal profit.

Well said Adam. I am one state away, just over the border in Georgia & it concerns me that pulling the antics DeSantis has in Florida, that notion will ooze into the addled, diseased brains of some of the maga republicans here in Georgia. Thus far, some of the more rational minds have prevailed in many areas; albeit more work to do. But..the barbarians are at the gates & if it's stopped in Florida, it may give others of similar ilk the idea to not pursue these means of usurping power, in particular, the power of the people's vote in these elections.

District attorneys often need to pick & choose their battles & in particular, enjoy some autonomy from political idealogues; who's only goal in the end is to secure power & dominance over other parties & citizens. DeSantis is indeed doing just that. He is an abomination & a blight on Florida & Florida's future. I suspect he recognizes on some level, his failed presidential bid; so perhaps he's content to carve out his own fiefdom in Florida. Not good for Floridians, business or tourism. Not good for America.

Yes, in my opinion his campaign is writhing in it's death throes. He'll create even more damage before he is done. I feel so for the Floridians who are regular and reasonable folk not prone to the madness of maga, just caught up in the madness while the heat index rises and quality of life falls.

PS: at times in my life, I've lived in Key West, Miami and Tallahassee, FL. I've also lived in Bainbridge GA.

Agree totally. Still have friends there from the 20 years I was there. They refer to him as " Deathsantis."

I feel for the dilemma of building one's life there, over many decades & finding at a later stage in life, you're dealing with a megalomaniac, as leadership in Florida & the entire social & political climates changed.

Gee Adam. You've moved a bit yourself over the years. Career?

Me as well. Born in NYC. GREW UP IN new England. Moved to San Francisco for a short time as well, but mostly an east coaster. Loved the energy there, ( 1998) but at the time there were " things" pressing me to return to the east coast & the cost to buy a home was a bit out of reach there as well. Still love the city, though cost of housing has outpaced many folks buying/ renting power. But a friend that moved to the Seattle area recently, he told me that in mindset & attitude, I really should have been a west coast kinda gal. ;)

You could say career. I did a stint in the USMC now in Chicago. I work from home and am in the command chair before 5am every day. I'm not driven, merely determined.

Was there any indication to FLA voters that Desatan would be such a madman? What was the charm that got him elected? And worse yet, the agreement by voters that he could change existing law to do his presidential bid while retaining his governorship? I don’t understand.

Hey Adam. You're an early riser I see, for the West Coast. Are you retired yet or no? I retired earlier than I really wanted to, but the "early riser" habit is hard to break. Can wake up from 5:00 on....& 5 hrs of sleep is a good night for me. Key West must have been an interesting place to live. I've only been once. Party town. Hemingway's house was cool to see. But temps must be ungodly now.

What do you know? Once again Republicans breaking laws and subverting the will of the majority. How is it that not one single Democrat is calling out this BS? Ron DeSantis is effectively attempting to be a dictator along with the orange asscactus. A vote for any Republican is a vote to end democracy.

Important findings of the details of the actual history of the cases FL State Attorney General Monique Worrell has dealt with so that people can support her intelligently. What a challenging job she has had, and how fairly she has handled it! Remember the hundreds of members of the bar who signed a petition declaring Brett Kavanaugh should be unfit to be a SC Justice? I hope we see some actions from people with power against another undeserving Ivy privileged politician.

DeSantis has to have somebody to beat up, especially somebody who can't fight back, because his campaign is going so badly. He is a grand example of someone who doesn't want to live in a democracy, only one where he calls all the shots.

He sold out to the insurance industry at cost to us ordinary homeowners buying housing insurance. He created a governors police force for no particular reason (bodyguards, like Putin?), total waste of money. He wants to censor books for school kids and let people use taxpayer money to send their kids to private schools. (We know that leads to poor kids having bad schools.)

DeSantis is a "my way or the highway" leader. I'm glad that when he gets off Florida turf, he doesn't get much backing. (Guess, what Ronboy, the rest of the country doesn't LIKE you.)

When DeathSantis’s campaign for President crashes and burns, which will happen very soon, what does he then do? Is he term limited in Florida? What other office can he occupy between the end of his term in ‘26 and the start of the next Presidential cycle? Or will he lay low, a La Nixon after his Loss for California Governor in ‘62 and plot his next campaign? Whatever he decides to do, you know he will not go away. Unfortunately, his malign presence will continue for the foreseeable future

He is term limited and can’t run again in 2026. Florida law would allow him to run in 2030.
