The Department of Defense (DoD) is imposing a comprehensive censorship regime across its network of 161 primary and secondary schools — eliminating content that acknowledges the contributions of women, minorities, and LGBTQ people.
Have any of you watched “The Hunger Games” series? The similarities between that series and what is happening in our government is eerily similar. We are fast approaching a time when only what the government says is permissible will be recognized. We will face potential prosecution for wanting to know or teach about ethnicity, about other cultures, about our First Nations people in this country, and anything else that celebrates something other than, or someone other than straight white men. Study the country of North Korea. Those folks know nothing about the outside world. Are we headed that way? Are we going to become a country who only elevates the whitewashed and false history? It’s happening now. It’s already happening with textbooks being pulled out of schools, with cultural studies being ended.
I’m having a hard time understanding that what is going on has not been stopped, and I mean stopped in its tracks. And if you think for one minute that Elon musk‘s goal is just the total corruption of the United States government, think again. He is going global. He is giddy with a sense of his own power and if I believed in the Bible I would say that this looks apocalyptic and could allow me to believe in something similar to an “antichrist“.

Most of my elementary through early high school was done in private schools in Puerto Rico (not a military kid). I learned fluent Spanish as a result, and when we came back to the states I was a few grades ahead of my peers in public schools. At the time, the island had people from all over and I was exposed to many cultures. I was also taught the history of the Caribbean, as well as a less biased view on this country. To say that I was an alien being when we returned is an understatement. Is rather be a well educated, alienated adult then a MAGA.
The CinC is a mediocre white man. The SecDeF is an even more mediocre white man. Both are terribly threatened by women and people of color who far surpass them in talent, qualifications, work ethic and intelligence. Their reaction - remove all references to women and people of color. This will, of course in their pointy empty heads, make them all go away. But when we are talking about the US military, there are not enough mediocre white men to fill recruiting goals, let alone make it thru all of the drug, aptitude, background and physical fitness tests to actually serve. But Trump and Hegseth will feel good about themselves, because they have neutered the greatest military force in history making the world safe for aggressors like Xi and Putin, their pals.

Did anyone here ever read the fascinating long article THE NAKED CITADEL (1994, The New Yorker) by Susan Faludi? The details about the sexuality REALLY going on in Charleston SC, home of The Citadel are mind-blowing. It was among the 50 articles I could choose from for the writing class I taught at Rutgers (glad I chose it at least once out of many amazing articles).
So if they censor, Trump can pretend he’s superior to Obama? Hegseth can pretend he’s a better military person than Tammy Duckworth? Musk is the equal of Nikola Tesla?

As an Air Force brat, I understand these orders are coming from the boss, but there is also that thing that when the boss's orders are unethical or illegal, you can and should ignore them.

This is Taliban tactics. When Women, Blacks, LGBTQ+ are not allowed outside of their homes and made to cover up any parts men can see then we will have fully instated the Taliban Rule.
If this agenda were imposed on public schools...would more people home-school? They'd have to be able to afford for a parent to be at home, or I guess they could work remotely. But what about when that isn't possible? Do the public schools become full of kids from lower-income homes? Is that who the "powers that be" want to indoctrinate? It's too early for me to do this kind of pondering.
Our youngest daughter is a college professor and has been doing it for several years after seeing the crap taught in TX and MO schools (plus both have done autism). They have a pullout school for things like lab work. I also send them books. She can arrange her schedule, plus her husband has a flexible job. I understand that most parents can't do that, though.
George Carlin was right that the oligarchs want workers just smart and educated enough to work the machines. The public schools will be filled with the kids of the parents who can't afford any alternative.
What the hell is “ discriminatory equity ideology”. Does it refer to women’s suffrage for instance? And if so, does it mean those schools can no longer recognize that existence of the 19th amendment. How then to explain the space between 18 and 20; a new system of counting? I definitely want to sit in on that math department faculty meeting.
