I did a double take when I saw the name "RadioShack" on this list. Did not have them on my Bingo card.

Others on this list aren't particularly surprising, though. As the alternatives to Twitter (still not calling it X) are yet gaining traction, corporate leveraging of the platform is at least somewhat understandable. That said, these companies could simply suspend advertising like Chipotle did previously and pressure Twitter's leadership to act in a meaningful way. As the saying goes, money talks.

PeterThiel’s moneycertainly talks to JD Vance…

I think he prefers Judy.

Xitter, pronounced “schitter”. It fits.

I like that! Xitter pronounced shitter 🎯

Wait, radioshack still exists?

CountMeWoke's avatar

That’s what I thought!🤣

Seriously! Radio Shack? I thought they were voted off the island long ago.

Looking forward to seeing who owns up to their poor decisions to associate themselves with the grok loving, crabby appleton billionaire who needs a nap.

Thanks for letting us know about these companies.

Thank you... I forwarded the article onto FB ....... x has banned me...

Good for you Ginger and I mean good for your mental health to get kicked off of X. I have never been on X, nor any other social network, and guess what? I'm fine. I doomscrolled through ICE videos for an hour on Youtube yesterday and I think I need emergency psychiatric help. What about everyone on Tiktok, X and Instagram/FB? Deeply rooted piles of shit steaming in the brain. Confusion as to what is real and desensitized from pornography and cruelty.

Not surprised to see the TechnoFascists listed or the NFL—several billiionaire owners of NFL teams are also big donors to tRump—a rapist and pedophile. But…Radio Shack? They’ll have to spend their ad-dollars more wisely because I didn’t know they still existed. Chipotle? There are better alternatives, like Qdoba. Gatorade? The only time I drink the stuff is for annual colonoscopy preps. I am not on Xitter (pronounced “schitter”) and it’s a goooood thing. I don’t know what the purpose of Grok is beyond exploitation…We knew David Ellison of Paramount is a media fascist in league with trump… ALL of these guys operate with swinging dicks and exploitation of women. That’s what the RNC is all about.

I sent this email to Wayfair's advertising department this morning:

I know you are aware that Xai aka Grok is producing thousands of non-consensual images of you, me, anybody as nudes or other compromising photographs. If you don't know what is going on with one of the places you advertise, wake up. If you advertise on X, you are allowing Elon Musk's toxic AI to destroy lives, especially and almost exclusively, women's lives. Do you want your customers to know that the nudification of CHILDREN and unsuspecting adults is fine the with Wayfair companies? Until I know you publicly dropped X from your advertisements, I will get my goods elsewhere.

I got this response from Wayfair:

Hi team,

Your request "Why do you continue to advertise on X/Grok?" has been routed to the Global Partner Desk and our team will respond shortly.

For any future questions about Advertising, you can also email supplierservicedesk@wayfair.com directly for support.

You can expect a response within 24 business hours.

Hi Katy,

I just bought a breadbox from them last week and some other home accoutrements not long before that. I'd be interested in their response. I can leave them alone to stew in their nasty juices if they don't reply appropriately. I stopped doing business with Amazon cold turkey a couple of years ago due to the Bezos A-Hole-lery and I can stop doing business with Wayfair too.

SeekingReason's avatar

Adam - same here. It’s been so disappointing to lose stores I used to frequent. I always liked Target, now they must no longer be used. Same with Wayfair-I thought they were my Amazon sub. I have frequented Ace Hardware and a local hardware in Chicago. Ace has a good history of community involvement…I hope to hell I don’t hear that they’ve changed!! On a previous list Judd listed Clorox as a company who said they’d stop contributions to supporters of the insurrection and kept that promise!! Yay! (Their HQ is Minneapolis so they might have good people on the board). I wrote to Clorox to thank them. Almost all major companies, like media, are owned by the Right. 😏

"Almost all major companies, like media, are owned by the Right."

Damn straight! And this is an issue that can only be addressed by some collaborative efforts by a coalition of deep-pocket dems and independents!

This is the kind of reporting that brought me to this site. Thanks for providing the information that helps me make choices about where and where not to spend my money.

If the Nazis, the destruction of democracy and DOGE didn't put advertizers off Twitter, how can we expect child porn to do it?

Sorry, but no one should be using Twitter. Save who you can by moving to a safer space and just leave.

It’s so good to be naming names and helping us connect them to products.

Boycotts teach them the Disney lesson, as when Kimmel was cancelled.

So many items need naming, like Dixie cups plates and plastic ware — made by Georgia Pacific which is solely owned by Koch industries.

So, all 37 companies advertising on X did not respond when asked if they were concerned about paying for ads on a platform that was allowing users to create non-consensual sexualized images of women and children. That makes it unanimous: A company's responsibility to its owners, officers, and shareholders outweighs any responsibility it has to society and humanity.

The dirty little secret is that for nearly fifty years, since Friedman and Laffer and neoliberalism, companies have been absolved of ANY responsibility to society and humanity whatsoever. If Friedman and Laffer were around today they'd probably be writing corollaries to their economic theories protecting pedophiles.

Amazing how MAGA was all up in arms about child sexual abuse until one of their own is accused. Then it’s circle the wagons and cry free speech.

You know what? Arguably, the 3 most famous people to have had relationships with Epstein are Trump and the Clintons. They all should be forced to answer questions.

BTW, notice how Trump and his minions are flooding the zone in an attempt, rather successfully unfortunately, to move past Epstein issue?

X has more annoying porn sites now than before musk. The site requires as much time blocking nonsense as reading interesting tweets.

SeekingReason's avatar

A lot of these were not surprising. Wayfair-what the hell! I used them as an Amazon substitute for some things! Ugh!

This is good information to have, and it should continue to be sought out and published. But the fact of the matter is that corporate America as well as global corporations have NO moral conscience beyond their bottom lines and an ethical one only to the extent that they believe the law can effectively constrain them on any given matter.

And the constraint they'll more easily acknowledge and abide by is not public opinion but the publics' spending habits, and if these companies are continuing to advertise on Musk's sewer of a social media platform it's because their calculus concludes that the profit in doing so will outstrip any downside negative publicity such as this might create. And until enough people put their money where their consciences are proclaimed to be both consistently and for the long run, that will continue to be the case.
