From the outset of President Trump’s second term, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has engaged in a deadly immigration crackdown that has trampled the constitutional rights of migrants and US citizens.
It's very discouraging to read this list of companies willing to send their (OUR) money in support of the people supporting domestic terrorism. It takes a real effort for everyday Americans to boycott them. But it's important we do so. even though it means sacrificing.
It's even more important to vote, and vote for politicians who have promised to break up these monopolies, and to stop subsidizing them with our tax dollars.
Clear, consistent and concise on the funding of what may very well be the Gestapo of America! Look at Germany… it all began with their threats, atrocities and murders for roughly 12 years.
We live in a system of dead end capitalism, still. The very premise of modern economics is that of planned and manipulated scarcity. And this extreme concentration of wealth built on the extraction of ‘scarce’ resources, not just of our natural resources in the environment and of labor as in the gilded age but of our very attention and mental health now in the digital age, runs the governments agenda, again.
There is a reason people are waking up, again, to the inequalities, to the death march of mass incarceration, technological slavery and climate change and are gathering behind progressives and socialists in this year’s midterms. Information like this helps me make choices, small though they may be.
My daughter would say I’m being overly dramatic. I don’t think so. For all the flaws of the country I was born into during the summer of love (1967), at least real attention was being paid to rectify these flaws and progress as a country and as a species. Now our attention has been manipulated as well. We are consumers amusing ourselves within in a system, not citizens acting responsibly for ourselves and others (Brave New World anyone?). This really is a do or die election.
Citizens Bank caving to public pressure should obviously be celebrated, but how many of these companies could reasonably be similarly swayed? Not that efforts shouldn't be made, but I'm also not optimistic in the current political climate.

Okay -- how does one function in the modern computer driven world and boycott all these companies -- OR how do you get these companies to change how they function???
One does what one can. I avoid buying stuff at Home Depot that I can buy at a local lumberyard. Same thing for Amazon: great place to research products, then check if you can buy it locally or from someone else. Or shop at places not on the list.
You make an excellent point. Most of us cannot get around Google. When we mail order, the company decides whether to use FedEx or UPS or USPS. It gets even more complicated when we recall that the national Teamsters Union (represent UPS drivers among other groups) did not support Kamala Harris in 2024, although kudos to the local Teamsters in Michigan who did. We do our best by boycotting where we can.
If we all do it, it becomes impactful. Unionizing and organization works. Citizens Bank (cited in this article) is a great example. Feeling not " terribly effective" is what they want. In my world, worst case, I can look my activist kids in the eye and say "I tried."
The Federal Government is the logical entity to rein in the greed of theses companies. Congress can pass laws that negate the worst of the Citizen’s United decision that our Libertarian SCOTUS stuck us with. We actually have anti- trust laws on the books that were enacted specifically for the purpose of preventing the mergers that give these Corporate moguls too damn much power in this government which puts economic consideration above any will of the people or good of the country. Our crippled Justice Department will never enforce any of those laws as long as the Republicans hold power in our government.
Republicans have morphed from a Conservative Party that supported the small businessman into a Corporatists organization that conflates money with wisdom and has completely lost any hold it ever had with ethics, morality or fairness.
This is why it is so important to get rid of these Republicans in Congress, not only Trump, who is just their
tool. Democrats are certainly not perfect, but there are some adults in that party who do act in the interests of the country, and many of the young candidates who are fighting to reclaim democracy so that they and their children have a country that they can live and thrive in.
Each of us must contribute to a Blue Tsunami this November and again in every election where these greedy Republicans are standing for election.

Imagine a country where the people's elected representatives are held in check by a chief executive who is supported by large corporations who benefit greatly from doing so and a partisan judiciary whose decisions erase long-standing, hard-won decisions. It isn't hard to do.
Organized people and organized money is the WAY to influence and shift big corporations. I think this country is approaching a point where a national boycott involving large labor and consumers will take place. We need to withold the only thing this administration and large corporations care about - our labor and money.
When these companies donate in this way, where do you think they get the money to do so? They price their goods and services to you and me in such a way as to make the kind of profits enabling them to make those huge political contributions, without which, prices would be lower and more affordable and politics less manipulated by big money.
Excluding SpaceX whose business model includes transportation funded by the Feds for all the departed… the other 24 basically ignoring current/future workers & customers. Prefer fealty to the false king… pathetic business practices.
This list may be a little misleading, since corporations cover their asses and donate small amounts to everyone. The list had some notable absences, like none of the Big Three automakers , Apple and Disney. I hope at least Disney’s stance is philosophical? Strangely missing are the Ellison companies, Oracle and whatever Paramount is called? Do they just give to Trump, ballrooms, etc?

Corporations, and frankly any non-human entity, should not have First Amendment rights, period. To treat them as a living person is a perversion of our Constitution. Human Rights are for Humans.
Rolling boycott that are publicized and demonstrations outside their corporate offices might be more effective. How about some of the billionaire Dems kicking in to support spreading the word?

Interesting to see United Airlines on the list since they (supposedly - I saw it mentioned on the TV new somewhere) allowed free rerouting if you wanted to avoid Trump airport.
