I almost spit out my tea when I read the phrase "presidential norms." There is nothing normal about this White House or this grifty family occupying it. They are all slimy and nasty individuals. Twump is the king of the turds. Turd one: Donald, the cokehead son, gonna wake up dead one day. Little turd: Eric, the sad veneer of a person whose lies equal or surpass his father's. They are, in a word, grotesque. Leave America for a minute and you will get a good perspective of how sad and captive we are to inferior human beings.
Corporal Judy Vance is a pathetic formerly fat and poor boy who has achieved some kind of crazy rise of fortune. Ordinarily we would look at that American story and say: wow, good for Judy. But he has many inside broken parts and he is in payback mode. For all those other poor boys and girls who bullied him: see? See what bullying does? Stop it!
The whole thing is rotten to the core. Throw it away: onto the dust heap of history and then bury the landfill of their lives and their administrations. Metaphorically speaking, just add this to the stinking dump of refuse that this entire decade has been. That is their legacy, a pile of garbage. That is what the Twump name is.
When eric trump says ALL of our assets are invested in a blind trust, the opposite is certainly true NONE of their assets are invested in a blind trust. When he denies stocks are being traded at the discretion of trump family members, the opposite is certainly true. The trump family is making money trading on inside information. The trump family is profiting from criminal activity. Like all organized crime families they find ways to profit from breaking laws.
What is hard for me to understand is why the mainstream media even bothers to print anything "factual" that comes out his mouth. We are near a deal with Iran, there's a blind trust, whatever. DIdn't Americans read the stories "Boy who cried wolf" or "King' New Clothes"
The main stream media appears to be afraid of Trump and what he will do if they tell the "Truth". Pretty sad commentary especially when we used to have networks like CBS (not anymore) that was home to "the most trusted man in America - Walter Cronkite). Now the real truth appears to be on independent media and even there a person has to be careful what and who they listen to. Our laws and rules and Constitution need an upgrade to deal with this massive dishonesty and grift. Dangerous when people like Trump, his family, his regime, the Republicans, Billionaires, and the Roberts 6 are more interested in money, power, and control than working for "the people". All of this could change in a heart beat if the Republicans in Congress actually did their job, but they are more loyal to or afraid of Trump than they are of the people of America. And the Roberts 6 have sold out the American people. And the Billionaires are working for themselves and their greed.

No offense intended, but that's much too facile an explanation. If it were simply a matter of stories being deemed off-limits by the oligarch class, we would have some journalists leaking those details and others quitting and publicly explaining why. And we have had some of those in specific circumstances, but it would be much more prevalent.
If you put the entire onus of the obvious failure of mainstream media on money and the power structure, you ignore the social-psychological aspect that allows these reporters to fail at journalism while believing they're performing it rigorously.
Money and power don't explain intellectual capture and institutional conditioning.
