This information is not on the front pages of the NYT or Washington Post or Wall Street Journal! Individual actual people need to be interviewed and photographed. Those are the stories the country needs. Not the performance in the Oval Office. BTW that performance was frightening as to both content and the visual. The same is true regarding the GOP plans regarding Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Interviews and photographs of ordinary MAGA
Is there any group that can identify those individuals and directly communicate that this is due to a TRUMP EO? I suspect these may be less frequent voters. Direct consequences like these should be tied TRUMP. We lucky enough to subscribe to POPULAR INFORMATION now know this. How will Alabama voters?
The content of the letter shown in the article is pretty clear that Trump's orders did this, isn't it? Should the letter come with a mallet to bang yourself in the head?
Excellent point but how can this be done? I wonder if there are any elected officials in AL who might be willing to share this information as they begin their 2026 campaigns.
My feeling is likely mostly minorities, AL is a voter repressive state and even if it is MAGA,too they won't complain about Trump. Never forget Turbeyfill (sp)is one of their Senators. Jim Crow never left in their hearts and minds.
Their other senator is a pretty dopey person herself.
She just cried about another one of his idiotic EOs that shut off all the underwriting of the research programs at U of A Huntsville . Britt is an idiot
Hating disadvantaged people in order to feel (unjustifiably) superior is the most important consideration in their votes. That hate is turning around to bite them in their backsides, as we tried to warn them it would. I can't help but feel they may deserve it, since many of these people voted for Trump themselves.
The administration believes anyone receiving any sort of assistance is an unworthy sloth living off the labor of others. No appeal to decency can work, because they have none. Cruelty is the point. It's intended to shock folks into productivity. In the meantime inflation is climbing. SMH
Gregg, in the view of these so called conservatives, anyone that has to rely on Social Security is a financial failure. But, you're right, the outcry will be quite a roar!
It's important to look deep enough to realize that our Republican/Conservative friends have had beaten into them, verbally or physically, by those who raised them a psychological dysfunction which leaves them bereft of everyone else's normal ability to experience or express empathy and compassion. They cannot bring themselves to help needy people because the part of a healthy person that would allow them to do so is missing from their personalities.
Such people make them massively uncomfortable because they can't deal with them. The psychological dodge they use to escape their discomfort is their standard belief that the fact that someone is in need of help disqualifies them from receiving the help they need. If you need help, no matter how legitimate your need, you are not worthy of receiving it. Only those who do not need help should ever get help, which is why they give tax cuts to obscenely wealthy people.
It's pretty screwed up, but that's where they're (unconsciously) coming from.
As usual, cruelty is the point. There is nothing more upsetting to the poor than discovering that financial protection you've been relying upon has been arbitrarily ripped away from you. I'm familiar with the LIHEAP program that has existed in NJ for decades (I've recommended that those desperate to avoid getting sick when the temperatures go way below freezing but want to stay warm enough so that their pipes don't freeze apply for this program).
Isn't it ironic that the highlighted state is a Red one, and sadly one with many poor constituents.
They can be the test case and harbinger to save the other states from added financial anxiety.
While I feel for those who will suffer because of this, I find it difficult to feel too badly, because after all, isn't this what the rubes in Alabama wanted when they cast their votes for Cheeto?
Matthew, it's possible that many of those who are eligible for the LIHEAP program were disenfranchised. In other words they did not vote for this. And shame on those who did!
No assistance for the poor but BIGLY assistance and optional give-aways for/to the rich. We now live in a topsy-turvy world. Indeed, these are "interesting times" we have been cursed with.
Let me know when US Marshals remove and detain Elon for violating all kinds of "bedrock statutes", privacy laws, etc etc. Sorry to sound cynical, but Congress apparently doesn't give a flying fig that they're being emasculated. Just because the President said Musk can destroy agencies, fire people, and block building access doesn't make it legal. Nixon giving the Watergate break in order didn't make the burglary legal. I don't see street protests accomplishing anything at this point. Musk needs to be removed and detained.
Won't happen until we get an election that removes spinless congressional people in the Republican party. They are so in love with their paychecks they are afraid of being voted out. Apparently they can't find good jobs so they prefer to live on the dole of the taxpayer.
Thank you for consistently finding what is NOT being reported in large outlets. Brilliant idea to add the QR code to gather stories. I organize with Indivisible in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, we are also trying to gather stories of impact to share with congressional representatives - ESPECIALLY in Red Districts. They need to hear the pain and suffering they are causing to their constiutents.
Billboards.... if Alabama is "walled off" from any sort of information except the MSM... then we have to do it the "old fashioned way" "Billboards & boots on the ground"..That's where we failed all summer.. interviewer hears "eggs" or "inflation" and doesn't ever ask the next question. What a wasted opportunity and we lost. trump won because he hammered into them their fears and like an abusive marriage they became compliant. With "Boots on the ground" the first thing to do is go straight to their "humaness" not with pity or "I told you so" but true questions... "How does/will this effect you?" Let them answer & don't turn around after the answer. There are more "human" questions to be asked after their first answer. It actually works.. Even on the phone it has brought down a wall & a vulnerable human appears. I know this seems weird but give it a try.
I've often thought billboards could be a perfect tool to give people the truth about what is going on. Short, clever, to the point, blasting the truth for all to see.
If anything will be trump's undoing, it will be the cumulative effect of his myriad blatant con jobs which leave poor and middle class Americans to foot the bill. But it's not a given that, even if the rubes finally realize their plight, there is a path left to take him down.
Hopefully, Tuberville will be getting an EARFUL, and he and lots of other bottom of the barrel RED state Congresspersons and Senators will start experiencing fear about the palpable ANGER their voters cumulatively start to demonstrate when the effects of TrumMuskCo start having a real effect. It may well be a small but rare pleasurable experience, for me at least.
Nobody cares, the electorate has declared war on the poor. If the GOP went after the gluttony of organized religion there would be an uproar because these preachers need their tax free status and private airplanes and ranches. Remember Mark Twain “Religion was created when the first con man met the first fool”. Trump is a religion.
Until Trump supporters are actually impacted, there will be no change. Is it finally beginning to happen? While I sympathize with some caught up, there need to be actual consequences. And, this type of outcome needs to be forefront!

senior citizens who voted for this.
Yes, I would like to see the WH press secretary explain this.
They would blame it on Biden.
Oh she’d find some excuse to lie about it.
She needs an excuse?
Actually, I'm sure the press secretary can look forward to a glorious career doing ads on cable TV where Sean Spicer can now be found.

Probably
You can't make me believe that!
lalalalalalalalala
It says it in the letter they got from the utility company, so they should already know.
Excellent point but how can this be done? I wonder if there are any elected officials in AL who might be willing to share this information as they begin their 2026 campaigns.
Now yours is a most perceptive question. Tis better to be (human) or not to be?
Well, I'm a bit embarrassed. I read this before my first cup of coffee. I agree the letter is clear. GOOD! Thanks for the feedback.
We tried to tell them. It's perplexing to see the very people who need assistance continue to vote against their best interests.
My feeling is likely mostly minorities, AL is a voter repressive state and even if it is MAGA,too they won't complain about Trump. Never forget Turbeyfill (sp)is one of their Senators. Jim Crow never left in their hearts and minds.

Sad & true.
They always seem to think that only "those people" will be affected. 🙄
They better realize, and soon, that for Trump/Musk and their oligarch buddies, EVERYONE ELSE is one of "those people."

Except fElon
Right on. And, it’s Trumpflation now.
Wait until they get to Social Security.

There is still a HUGE color line in Alabama (and Mississippi and Louisiana as well.)
Sorry, Alabama folks. Your Orange Jesus is a fraud. Stay tuned. It’s gonna get worse.

More important than life itself: own the libs
Does Tommy Tuberville care about these low income voters (or possibly nonvoters)?
Hopefully, Tuberville will be getting an EARFUL, and he and lots of other bottom of the barrel RED state Congresspersons and Senators will start experiencing fear about the palpable ANGER their voters cumulatively start to demonstrate when the effects of TrumMuskCo start having a real effect. PS. Note the dead-behind-the-eyes look of stupid-evil criminality in the face of the Stinking Orange Diaper Load.
I can just imagine Mump caving to Tuberville and the red states on specific pleas, but not to blue states.
Tip 'o the iceberg. As Nazi pig Leon Musk warned with a wag of his finger, it's gonna hurt a little and then it's gonna hurt a lot.
