Great job covering Katie Zacharia's "qualifications." It's "head of lettuce" time...

If only the MSM paid that much attention to your other work...

Katy Bolger's avatar

Oh, Btam, I think they have been watching Judd's work for a few years now. This was a big fish because she was right next to President and in the moment, but Judd's work seeps into daily MSM reporting, unattributed, all the time. The best part is that Judd is on the side of right and his megaphone, while seemingly small, actually gets louder the further afield it gets. Another hard working investigative journalism is of course Propublica which does amazing deep dives into the corruption all around the country. And with the time we live in, these journalists are playing whack-a-mole with the evildoing feral underground rodents. I know you are a daily consumer of Popinfo as am I, so rest assured that Judd et al are getting under the slimy skin of the mole people.

"...are getting under the slimy skin of the mole people."

Quote of the day! As I recall, you teach English Lit, correct? It shows.

Katy Bolger's avatar

After 40 years old, I became a certified English teacher turned humanities teacher turned novelist. Also, I got a late masters from NYU in journalism which is where I learned how to write well. Thank you!

But can you diagram a sentence? :-)

The lettuce won!!!!

Katie Zacharia has the necessary qualifications. She’s young, she’s blonde, and sh’e loyal to Trump. Being good at the job is not on the list.

BTAM Master's avatar

In this administration, competency is only an accident.

Marliss Desens's avatar

And they get rid of competency unless it advances their evil plans.

Only the best? Katy Z failed the Cal bar exam in '11 & lied. Her tenure will be measured in Scaramuccis. https://www.uncensoredobjection.com/p/her-tenure-will-be-measured-in-scaramuccis The lettuce is beginning to wilt... https://www.uncensoredobjection.com/p/her-tenure-will-be-measured-in-scaramuccis #VoteBlue!

Interesting article. While these statements sound believable, I would like to see sources...otherwise they could be made up.

As usual, so proud of the fine job the PI Team is doing on investigative reporting!

Trump grifting family, or even Trump himself, must have stocks in data centres or he would not support them so eagerly…always follow the money with them.

Katy Bolger's avatar

BINGO. Also, if AI fails, the stock market crashes and that is what Twump holds onto: that the stock market is doing well, so the country is doing well. Tell that to the sucker who doesn't get to play in the stock market or to the teacher whose pension is invested in the stock market and worries their money won't exist after 30 years of caring for other people's children.

JenneJ's avatar

Not just the Data Centers, but the AI and especially crypto that they will support. The energy suck alone of AI and Crypto should make those technologies non-starters. Why do you think he's over there making energy deals with Putin and Chi, and telling Zelenski to stop destroying energy infrastructure, and why they are so damn invested in petroleum?

I think folks are missing a bigger problem in America, that Americans are convinced that taxes are for “the other guy”. For fifty years or so Americans have been brainwashed into firmly believing that taxes are a theft of their hardly earned money. So firm in their convictions they are willing to underfund the education of their children, the condition of their water and sewer systems, underfunded and under trained law enforcement, you name it. Government from the local to the Federal struggle to deliver on an anorexic stream of money. Roads cost money, bridges fall down, potholes appear. The country is on its way to third world status. I can understand the attraction of data centers, when you are a local government official struggling to deliver $10 of services on a $2 tax base, the attraction is irresistible. But instead of lambasting the local councils, impose higher taxes because the only way for local and state agencies to be run in the public interest is if they are properly funded by tax revenues.

Marliss Desens's avatar

Heather Cox Richardson has made this point as well. There is also a recent book on the issue, but I cannot remember the name of the author, a woman that I've seen interviewed twice on different Substack sites.

The Circus came to town and stayed! Voted in by 77,000,000 heads of lettuce and enabled by a Republican Congress that should also be called out for allowing ALL of this each - and - every- Day!!

I’d like to see scrap books (for the Smithsonian) for each Nazi Party member that is Enabling this assault on America and The World, when they could simply Save the All of us.

Pretending that the lettuce who voted for Trump wanted any of this insanity is pretty ridiculous, and if any of these chodes in Congress had the guts to hold a Town Hall they wouldn’t be able to claim it’s a “mandate”, if they are even bothering to use that as an excuse anymore.

WE all know Trump is an Idiot, but the 218 Congressman need to be called out like the executioners they are.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Whenever I need to go the dictionary, I am grateful. Now I know what a chode is.

Jen, you are right. ALL of the GOP Congress are culpable which, if you count the Republican senators as well, is actually 218 + 53 = well, you do the math.

Jen Baron's avatar

100%. My mistake. ; ).

MAGA = Morons are Governing America

GOP = Guardians of Pedophiles

Thanks, I was wondering what the kids were using for acronyms these days. Grand Old Party bosses are chomping on their cigar butts as they roll in their graves.

Great job on the Zacharia story.

Popular Information isn't my only independent media subscription but it's the one I know has an actual impact on the greater political landscape.

Joseph Mangano's avatar

As is frequently the case with Republicans, their accusations are really projection. Donald Trump supports deeply unpopular data centers as supposed money printers, even though they probably won't generate nearly as many jobs and as much revenue as advertised. Then again, he seems largely emotionally disconnected from what happens in the midterms anyway.

BTAM Master's avatar

Win or lose, Trump will continue to trash the place. He's a Russian asset whose assignment was to weaken / destroy America and the West, and he's doing a superb job.

Adam's avatar

One of the few things he's actually good at is destroying things because he is a "builder" and a, heh heh heh, "man of peace."

Ann Sharon's avatar

The fiscal side of data centers is built on a model quite similar to the Drumpf business model:

OPM (other people’s money which he bragged about when he ran in 2016)

Huge debt. (It’s affecting the bond market. “Banks are now trying to offload the AI data center debt they just underwrote” https://startupfortune.com/banks-are-now-trying-to-offload-the-ai-data-center-debt-they-just-underwrote/)

Adam's avatar

Here's a little gem from the link: Matthew Moniot, co-head of credit risk sharing at Man Group, told the Financial Times the deal sizes involved are "out of scale to anything we've thought about, ever."

More loans unrivaled in toxicity are shooting through the tube. Haven't we seen a movie like this before?

Marliss Desens's avatar

Paul Krugman has been warning about this for over a year.

Ann Sharon's avatar

Makes perfect sense. The finance world & the economy is his specialty. I’ve seen headlines from financial publications dating back to 2025. I think it is like a snowball going downhill growing larger all the time. Now that concern is spreading they want to get into position to demand a government bailout. Considering the trumpets invested in it why would he object?

Cindy Schaufenbuel's avatar

AI spending by the big tech companies is one of the only things keeping this economy afloat. Of course Trump has to cheerlead for the industry, even though most Americans are rightly wary of AI itself and don’t want data centers anywhere near their homes.

Wildwynde's avatar

Kudos on the Zacharia investigation. The many faces of Donald Trump. It is well-known that Trump has no idea how to govern, but we are seeing that he doesn't even have an idea of how to be a politician, so as a result, one day he supports something, the next day, he or his ally trashes it, claiming that Democrats wrongly support it. There is no policy there, possibly he seems to hope that he is able to satisfy everyone. He also has a great deal of projection which is typical of a certain type of mental dysfunction or illness (reference: Book, The Much More Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, 50 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Warn Anew; quote: "His worsening impairments, while holding the most powerful position on the planet, pose many existential dangers for humankind".)

Katy Bolger's avatar

This is what data centers will do to the towns that bear them: property values plummet. Homeowners take the loss and move for their sanity's sake. Homes are devalued and they are bought by landlords who rent them to low income persons who will put ten people into a three bedroom, one bathroom house creating a ghetto of poor people. Crime will surge and life will be miserable, once again, for the poor. So, in a sense, data centers are creating affordable housing. And then our lives, all of us, are poorer for the wasteland they create. F the oligarchs. Why do they need data centers? For powering AI. Who wants AI? Hands?

BRAVO!!! That a few people can expose, and thus alter tremendously important events in U.S. politics, is fantastic! Thank you so much for your brilliant work!

Katy Bolger's avatar

I want to comment on your prologue of the fake lawyer getting caught in your net: this is why we have the First Amendment and how and why it is supposed to work. We can also have arts and entertainment but it is the daily grind and the investigative stuff that holds us all accountable, especially those who control other people's lives. Everyone is saying it but it bears repeating: Keep up the good work, Popular information. We need you now and forever.

The Republicans are desperately trying to find some piece of spaghetti that will stick to the wall - a lie that will get people's attention so that they forget that TRUMP is on the ballot, and that any vote to elect a Republican candidate is a vote to allow the suffering of regular American people to continue and grow worse.

This strand of spaghetti has already fallen to the floor. Except for those desperate to find some reason to continue to support Trump because they are psychologically dependent and completely addicted to him as their big "daddy," the rest of the general public has long since begun to see the endless, laughable attempts to be SCARY, Republican ads and mailers against Democrats as lies and garbage which can go directly into the "circular file."

Katy Gammack's avatar

Hey Judd, Did you see this "Zacharia’s failure to pass the bar exam was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. The new White House press secretary is facing questions about her legal credentials after the White House has not said whether Zacharia, who has repeatedly referred to herself as a lawyer, passed the bar exam." Why is Wall Street Journal getting credit for discovering this about the phony press secretary?
