I don't really think that the boycotting strategy works in a world-wide economy. Companies have plants and stores in other countries, and many opportunities to have more. They have stayed in the US because for the last 50 years we have been consuming fools, but if the US consumer stops comsuming the businesses will just close up shops and move to other places, Russia, perhaps.
