Agree. NYTimes ran the story under the headline, "Trump Honors 9/11 Emergency Personnel in Washington." Only in the 3rd paragraph did the "journalist" use the terms "questionable and provocative" in describing his comments. Just can't let themselves state the obvious: he lied.

It became a huge, weeks-long scandal, the focus of editorial boards, fact checkers and even late-night comedians. It was a five-alarm fire for Hillary as she ran for president against Barack Obama.
And Brian Williams' lie about the helicopter he was riding on being hit with a rocket-propelled grenade while covering the Iraq War cost him his evening news anchor spot at NBC and resulted in a six-month suspension.
The repercussions Clinton and Williams suffered for their lies were well deserved. But it's obvious that Trump's unabashed lies and his continued in-our-faces, self-aggrandizing, stolen valor will not be met with anywhere near the media fury those were even though those pale in comparison with Trump's ludicrous fabrications.
